					</table><p>NTPC Renewable Energy (<a href="https://ntpcrel.co.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NTPC REL</a>) has invited bids for the supply and installation of 224 wind turbine generators for a 672 MW wind power project in Solapur, Maharashtra.</p>
<p>The last date to submit bids is May 7, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.</p>
<p>Bidders must submit a bid security of ₹500 million (~$5.82 million) and a bid document fee of ₹22,500 (~$262.31).</p>
<p>The scope of work encompasses design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, installation, testing, and commissioning of 224 Revised List of Models &amp; Manufacturers (RLMM)-listed wind turbine generators (WTG) with a capacity of 3 MW each.</p>
<p>The successful bidders will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the project for 10 years, including the supply of spare parts, consumables, and repairs or replacements of any defective equipment.</p>
<p>The scope of work also entails establishing guaranteed performance parameters for the installed wind power projects, including control panels, supervisory control, and data acquisition systems.</p>
<p>Bidders will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the unit substations and electrical works required for grid integration.</p>
<p>NTPC will provide the successful bidders with land to set up the wind power projects.</p>
<p>Bidders must be manufacturers of an approved WTG model with a minimum rating of 3,000 kW included in RLMM.</p>
<p>They must have a minimum annual turnover of ₹10.56 million (~$123,113) X quoted capacity in MW in the last three financial years.</p>
<p>Bidders must have had a positive net worth in the last financial year.</p>
<p>Recently, NTPC REL <a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-rel-invited-bids-for-bos-package-for-900-mw-wind-energy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids for a balance of system package for an interstate transmission-connected 900 MW wind energy project located in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.</p>
<p>In 2024, it <a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-960-mw-wind-karnataka" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to supply and install WTG for a 960 MW interstate transmission system-connected wind energy project in Karnataka (Tranche III).</p>

					</table><p>Spain-based wind turbine manufacturer <a href="https://www.siemensgamesa.com/en-int" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Siemens Gamesa</a> reported a net loss of €446 million (~$453 million) in the third quarter (Q3) of the fiscal year (October to September), a year-over-year (YoY) increase of 42% from €314 million (~$319 million).</p>
<p>The company posted revenue of €2.43 billion (~$2.47 billion) in Q3, a YoY decline of 10% from €2.7 billion (~$2.76 billion) in the same period last year. The manufacturer said the revenue dip was primarily driven by the company’s ramp-up challenges clubbed with supply chain disruptions on wind turbine generator (WTG) production and project execution activities.</p>

<p>The overall Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) for the period amounted to €459 million (~$467 million), a YoY increase of 93% from €238 million (~$242 million).</p>
<p>The EBIT margin for Q3 stood at 14.3% compared to 22.1 % in the same period last year, which the company said was impacted due to ramp-up costs, product cost inflation merged with delays in WTG manufacturing, and project execution driven by quality and supply chain issues.</p>
<p>The company’s WTG manufacturing activity dropped by 30% YoY during the 9-month (9M) of the financial year (FY) 2022, while it fell by 25% YoY in Q3. WTG installation decreased by 4% YoY in 9M and 28% in Q3. The company said disruptions in onshore and offshore projects mainly drove the dip.</p>
<p>The company posted total revenue of €6.44 billion (~$6.57 billion) for the first nine months (9M) with an EBIT margin of 14.8%. The company said that constrained visibility linked to current geopolitical tensions, enhanced macro risk, and the COVID-19 pandemic fuelled the impact on supply chain and direct material costs.</p>
<p>Siemens’ order intake for Q3 was 1.2 GW, a quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) spike of 300% from 0.3 GW in Q2 2022, and a YoY decline of 10.9%. The company has an order backlog of €34 billion (~$34.6 billion), up YoY by 4%, with an order intake that totaled €3.5 billion (~$3.57 billion).</p>
<p>The order intake was driven by strong offshore performance and the recovery of onshore commercial activity. The company recorded an upward trend in the average selling price (ASP), which resulted from a positive impact from the project scope, product and regional mix, and price increases.</p>
<p>Siemens Gamesa accumulated €17.3 million (~$18 billion) from its order backlog in service, a YoY jump of 6.7% from €16.2 million (~$17 billion) in the previous year’s Q3. The company has 84 GW of projects under maintenance, with 69 GW onshore and 15 GW offshore, with a retention rate of 68%.</p>
<p>The company had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/siemens-gamesa-order-booking-12-25-billion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">registered</a> a net loss of €403 million (~$462.05 million) in Q1 2022 from a profit of €11 million (~$12.61 million) in the same period last year.</p>
<p>In June this year, the Spain-based company <a href="https://mercomindia.com/siemens-gamesa-supply-wind-turbines-to-vena-energys/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inked</a> an agreement with Singapore-based Vena Energy to supply its 3.X platform wind turbines for a 133 MW project in the Koppal district of Karnataka in India.</p>


Supply Chain Woes Hit Siemens Gamesa’s Wind Turbine Manufacturing, Revenue Dips

<p>The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (<a href="http://gercin.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">GERC</a>) has provided relief to Aarvee Denims and Exports Limited in the matter of wheeling of power from its wind project.</p>
<p>The petition was filed against Torrent Power and Gujarat Energy Transmission Corp. Limited.</p>
<p>Aarvee Denims and Exports Limited had petitioned the GERC requesting it to declare that the adopting methodology for providing the set off for the wheeled energy generated from the wind turbine generators to the place of consumption is against the provision of Gujarat’s policy.</p>
<p>The company had also requested that the Commission declare that the adjustment of wind energy generated and wheeled through open access as well as the modification of the units given by the respondents have all been without the GERC’s approval.</p>
<p>Aarvee Denims and Exports Limited had also requested the commission to order the respondents to revise the bills issued. This could be done firstly, by adjusting the energy purchased from the energy exchange or bilateral contract and later, the set off given to the wheeled and balance units should be given a banking period of six months.</p>
<p>The company had also requested the GERC to declare that the total units available for banking (1,683,014 units) should be adjusted as a credit in the future bill.</p>
<p>After going through the submissions made, the commission noted that the respondents move to set off the wheeled energy for the wind turbine generators first against the consumption in preference over the energy purchased under short-term open access is contrary and not in line with the decision taken by the GERC and therefore, it stands rejected.</p>
<p>It further stated that energy purchased through short-term open access has to be accounted first against the block-wise consumption of the consumer and the balance consumption in a month has to be accounted either as the energy wheeled from its wind turbine generators or as the energy supplied by the distribution licensee. The surplus energy, if any, remaining after the set-off, can be banked in accordance with the wind policy of the state government.</p>
<p>The GERC has stated that if the methodology of energy accounting adopted by the respondents is different and distinct, then it has to be revised.</p>
<p><a href="https://mercomindia.com/gerc-impose-additional-surcharge-open-access/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Recently</a>, the Gujarat commission passed an order stating that no additional surcharge will apply to consumers of four of Gujarat’s DISCOMs for utilizing power through open access between April and September 2019.</p>
<p>Earlier this year, the state <a href="https://mercomindia.com/gujarat-regulations-solar-wind-deviation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">announced</a> new regulations for the forecasting, scheduling, and deviation settlement of solar and wind generating sources in the state. According to the regulation, the schedule of wind generators connected to the state grid may be revised by giving advance notice to the state load dispatch centers. There can be as many as 16 revisions during the day.</p>
