Solar module manufacturer Vikram Solar has secured a 393.9 MW supply order from NLC India for its Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat.

NLC had invited bids for the supply order earlier this year. It had said that the company reserves the right to ask the bidder to supply up to 30% additional solar modules on the same terms and conditions.

The deal brings Vikram Solar’s total contracted module supply for the Khavda Solar Park to over 1 GW, the company said in a press release.

Under the order, Kolkata-based Vikram Solar will deliver its high-efficiency 580 MWp and n-TOPCon bifacial modules as per the government’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers requirements.

The tender had specified that the modules must be monocrystalline or TOPCon silicon–bifacial. They must have a minimum fill factor of 0.75 and bifaciality of at least 70±5%. The modules must perform satisfactorily with ambient temperatures between -10 °C and +60 °C.

“We are thrilled to share this significant milestone order for our high-efficiency solar modules from NLC India Limited,” said Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Vikram Solar. “This signals NLC’s deep trust in our expertise and underscores our steadfast commitment to excellence in support of India’s incredible decarbonization efforts.”

Vikram Solar has 1.6 GW of commissioned and under-execution engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects. Last year, the company emerged as one of the top utility-scale solar EPC service providers, according to Mercom’s India Solar Market Leaderboard 1H 2023.

The company earlier this year also won NTPC Renewable Energy’s auction to supply 397.70 MW of crystalline solar bifacial modules with a minimum wattage output of 540 Wp for projects at the Khavda Solar Park.

In October last year, NLC India incorporated a new wholly-owned subsidiary, NLC India Green Energy, to take care of its renewables business.
