					</table><p><a href="https://www.servokon.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Servokon Systems</a>, a power equipment manufacturer, plans to invest over ₹2 billion (~$24 million) in a new manufacturing facility for both transformers and solar modules in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh.</p>
<p>Besides setting up a solar module manufacturing facility, Servokon will manufacture transformers up to 220 kV class.</p>
<p>The company did not disclose the capacity of the solar manufacturing unit.</p>
<p>The manufacturing facility, spanning an area of approximately 25,000 square meters, is expected to be operational between the end of 2024 and January 2025.</p>
<p>Haji Kamruddin, Founder and Managing Director of Servokon Systems, said, &#8220;This expansion marks a significant milestone in Servokon&#8217;s journey. We are pleased to introduce this modern manufacturing facility, which will increase our production capacity and allow us to manufacture transformers up to 220 kV class and produce solar panels in-house.”</p>
<p>“Our venture into renewable power and solar energy aligns with the government&#8217;s goal of achieving energy Independence and reducing carbon emissions,” he added.</p>
<p>Servokon offers a range of solar power systems, both off-grid and on-grid. It has expanded its services to include engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), alongside the provision of essential components such as solar batteries, inverters, and panels.</p>
<p>In its Solar Energy Policy last year, the Uttar Pradesh government said solar energy equipment manufacturing facilities will be <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/uttar-pradesh-proposes-to-install-16-gw-solar" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exempted</a> from electricity duty for ten years.</p>
<p>A senior executive of Servokon <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/shortage-skilled-labor-threatens-solar-sector" target="_blank" rel="noopener">highlighted</a> the challenges Indian companies face in finding a skilled workforce for solar manufacturing.</p>
<p>According to a recent <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/indias-solar-module-ten-fold-within-a-decade" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> by the Union Minister for Power and New &amp; Renewable Energy R. K. Singh, India’s solar module manufacturing capacity witnessed a staggering tenfold growth, soaring from 2.4 GW per annum in 2014 to an impressive 25 GW per annum in 2023. Additionally, the country has installed an indigenous solar cell manufacturing capacity of 6 GW annually over the past nine years, underlining its commitment to domestic innovation.</p>
