Here are some noteworthy cleantech announcements of the day from around the world:
Gas Distribution company Adani Total Gas has <a href="https://www.adanigas.com/newsroom/media-release/ATGL-forays-into-electric-mobility-infrastructure-sector">forayed</a> into Electric Mobility by launching its first electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Ahmedabad. The EV charging station, located at Adani&#8217;s CNG station at Maninagar in Ahmedabad, will enable a quick turnaround time for EV owners. The company aims to expand its network by setting up 1,500 EV charging stations across the country and plans to expand based on the demand. ATGL will also leverage Adani Group&#8217;s capacity to generate renewable power and group-level synergies for sourcing green power. The global experience of Total Energies in the EV infrastructure space will also add a competitive edge.
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, <a href="https://pib.gov.in/newsite/pmreleases.aspx?mincode=46">informed</a> that rooftop solar projects, floating solar projects, and wind farms will be developed at ports. Currently, greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from maritime operations contribute 1% to the overall transport sector GHG emissions. The Green port project aims to implement sustainable practices in terminal design, development, and operation. It also deals with preparing environment management and monitoring plan by regulating the discharges and effluents in the harbor water and minimization through Swachh Bharat initiatives.
Shell and BYD have <a href="https://www.shell.com/energy-and-innovation/mobility/mobility-news/shell-and-byd-partner-on-ev-charging-across-china-and-europe.html">signed</a> a strategic cooperation agreement to help accelerate the energy transition and improve the charging experience for BYD&#8217;s battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) customers. Shell and BYD will form a pan-European Mobility Service Provider partnership, offering BYD&#8217;s private and commercial customers membership access to 275,000 charging points through Shell&#8217;s roaming network. Both Shell and BYD will also jointly develop fleet solutions and depot charging services for BYD customers in Europe. Both parties also intend to form a joint venture to develop EV charging networks in China. The joint venture is expected to operate a network of more than 10,000 charging points in Shenzhen, with a plan to expand to more locations in China.
Cleantech Solar <a href="https://cleantechsolar.com/cleantech-solar-commissions-1-mw-rooftop-solar-pv-system-for-senior-aerospace-in-thailand/">commissioned</a> a 1 MW rooftop solar system at Senior Aerospace Thailand&#8217;s manufacturing facility in Laem Chabang. The solar project&#8217;s 1,296 modules are expected to generate over 18 GWh of clean electricity during the project&#8217;s lifetime, which will avoid over ten kilotons of CO2 emissions. Cleantech Solar will maintain and operate the PV system during the agreement term.
IntriEnergy has <a href="https://www.intrienergy.com/post/intrienergy-granted-solar-patent-in-india">secured</a> intellectual property protection in India for its technology platform, which is expected to increase the energy output of a solar cell by up to 60%. India patent number 390862 was officially granted on February 28, 2022. The patent protection covers the period from IntriEnergy&#8217;s original filing date of July 28, 2015, expanding the patent protection globally. IntriEnergy has already secured patents for these innovations in the United States and Canada and is awaiting final approval in the European Union and Hong Kong.
Vestas has <a href="https://www.vestas.com/en/media/company-news/2022/vestas-secures-a-51-mw-order-from-o2-power-in-india-c3532701">secured</a> a 51 MW order from O2 Power Private Limited for a renewable energy project in Karnataka, India. Vestas will supply, install, and commission 23 wind turbines of V120-2.2 MW to O2 Power as part of the contract. Deliveries of the turbines are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2022, and commissioning in the last quarter of 2022.
