					</table><p>Belgium-based <a href="https://johncockerill.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">John Cockerill </a>will supply 1.3 GW of electrolyzers to <a href="https://www.amgreen.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AM Green’s</a> one-million-ton green ammonia project. The company will supply the electrolyzers in two phases of 640 MW each for the production of green hydrogen and its conversion into green ammonia.</p>
<p>As part of the agreement, the two companies will develop a 2 GW per year electrolyzer manufacturing plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh This plant will supply the second phase of 640 MW of electrolyzers to the AM Green Kakinada project.</p>
<p>CertifHy has certified the Kakinada facility as compliant with EU RFNBO requirements for green ammonia, including additionality and renewable energy timeliness.</p>
<p>AM Green has already executed offtake agreements for this project for intended end use in various green hydrogen applications.</p>
<p>AM Green aims to reach 5 MTPA of green ammonia capacity by 2030 to support its efforts to achieve net zero targets in India and the OECD markets.</p>
<p>The output from the new facilities will be equivalent to approximately 1 MTPA of green hydrogen, accounting for one-fifth of India’s target for green hydrogen production under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and 10% of Europe’s target for green hydrogen imports.</p>
<p>Recently, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (<a href="https://mnre.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MNRE</a>) set aside ₹44.4 billion (~$535.6 million) to incentivize electrolyzer manufacturing to reduce hydrogen production costs in the country as part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission.</p>
<p>The mission aims to promote the development of a green hydrogen production capacity of 5 million tons per year. It envisages an investment of over ₹8 trillion (~$96.5 billion) and the creation of over 600,000 jobs by 2030.</p>
<p>In January, Reliance Electrolyzer Manufacturing, John Cockerill Green Hydrogen Solutions, Jindal India, and Adani New Industries were among the <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/reliance-jindal-adani-win-seci-electrolyzer-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">winners</a> of Solar Energy Corporation of India’s tender to set up 1.5 GW of electrolyzer manufacturing capacities across India.</p>


John Cockerill to Supply Electrolyzers to AM Green’s Ammonia Project

					</table><p>AM Green Ammonia BV, incorporated by <a href="https://greenkogroup.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Greenko Group</a>, has arrived at its Final Investment Decision (FID) for its first one million-ton green ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.</p>
<p>This project will be based at an existing urea plant in Kakinada. The facility will be converted into a green ammonia production unit, with operations starting in the second half of 2026.</p>
<p>The company has secured 1,300 MW of carbon-free power through 4,500 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity and 950 MW of pumped storage capacity.</p>
<p>A 25-year power purchase agreement with NTPC covers half of the required power capacity. Gentari, Petronas&#8217; renewable energy arm based in Malaysia, is expected to provide the remaining capacity.</p>
<p>The company aims at achieving a production capacity of 5 million tons per year (MTPA) of green ammonia by 2030.</p>

<p>In addition to the Kakinada project, the company is also focused on producing green ammonia across multiple locations in India to achieve its planned 5 MTPA of green ammonia capacity by 2030.</p>
<p>In May, Norway-based Yara Clean Ammonia <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/greenko-green-ammonia-yara" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> a term sheet with Greenko ZeroC, AM Green&#8217;s green ammonia production arm, for the long-term supply of up to 50% of renewable ammonia from the Kakinada production facility.</p>
<p>Last October, Gentari <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/gentari-gic-greenko-green-ammonia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">entered</a> into an agreement with AM Green to produce 5 MTPA of green ammonia using renewable energy sources.</p>
<p>Greenko ZeroC was among the <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/greenko-acme-reliance-winners-secis-green-hydrogen-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">winners</a> of Solar Energy Corporation of India&#8217;s tender to set up 450,000 MTPA production facilities for green hydrogen. The company was allotted a capacity of 90,000 MTPA.</p>

<p>The ammonia production facility of AM Green, promoted by the founders of the Greenko Group, will produce and export renewable ammonia derived from round-the-clock carbon-free energy by 2027.</p>
<p>This supply will enable Yara to produce low-emission fertilizer and decarbonize shipping, power, and energy-intensive industries.</p>

<p>Yara Clean Ammonia works towards capturing growth opportunities in low-emission fuel for shipping and power, carbon-free food production, and ammonia for industrial applications.</p>
<p>Greenko ZeroC and four other companies <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/greenko-acme-reliance-winners-secis-green-hydrogen-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">won</a> Solar Energy Corporation of India’s tender to set up 450,000 metric ton production facilities for green hydrogen in January.</p>
<p>Last October, Malaysian and Singaporean entities Gentari and GIC <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/gentari-gic-greenko-green-ammonia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tied up</a> with Greenko to develop a green ammonia platform.</p>
<p>Earlier this year, the Government of India <a href="https://mercomindia.com/government-incentives-produce-green-ammonia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> incentives for the domestic production of 550,000 metric tons of green ammonia as part of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition program.</p>


Greenko to Supply Green Ammonia to Norway’s Yara from Andhra Pradesh Facility

					</table><p><a href="https://www.gentari.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gentari</a>, the clean energy division of Malaysia&#8217;s Petronas, has entered into an agreement with AM Green, a green energy platform initiated by the founders of India-based <a href="https://greenkogroup.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Greenko</a>, to produce 5 million tons per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia by 2030 using renewable energy sources.</p>
<p>Gentari, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Gentari International Renewables, will co-invest progressively in AM Green Ammonia Holdings (AMG Ammonia). An affiliate of Singapore&#8217;s investment entity, GIC, is also an investor in AMG Ammonia.</p>
<p>The partnership sets its sights on multi-location production of green ammonia across India. It expects to contribute to India&#8217;s net-zero goals and address the renewable energy demands of Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Exports of green ammonia to these key markets are expected to commence by late 2025.</p>
<p>The AM Green Ammonia unit is poised to become a fully funded platform post-investment, enabling phased investments in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh.</p>
<p>AM Green&#8217;s production of green ammonia will be underpinned by round-the-clock renewable energy, made possible through offtake agreements with power producers and electrolyzers manufactured by another unit of AM Green, AM Green Technology and Solutions.</p>
<p>The 5 MTPA of green ammonia equals approximately 1 MTPA of green hydrogen, signifying a fifth of India&#8217;s target for green hydrogen production under the country&#8217;s National Green Hydrogen Mission and 10% of Europe&#8217;s green hydrogen imports by 2030.</p>

<p>For Gentari, robust collaborations in their focal market of Malaysia and the broader Asia Pacific region are pivotal to realizing their global aspiration of achieving up to 1.2 MTPA in clean hydrogen production by 2030.</p>
<p>Greenko began <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/greenko-export-green-ammonia-uniper" target="_blank" rel="noopener">negotiations</a> with Germany-based energy company Uniper in February this year for the annual offtake of 250,000 tons of green ammonia to the European Union. Under the agreement, green ammonia would be supplied from Phase I of Greenko ZeroC’s ammonia production unit.</p>
<p>In July, Gentari <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/renew-gentari-enter-jv-renewable-assets-in-india/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> a 50:50 joint venture agreement with ReNew to develop solar, wind, and energy storage assets to achieve a clean power capacity target of 5 GW in India. The partnership followed Gentari’s initial investment for a 49% equity stake in ReNew Power’s 403 MW  power project that the latter announced in May this year.</p>
