Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Group has secured a repeat wind turbine order of approximately 100 MW from Gas Authority of India (GAIL), marking the sixth project between the two companies and the fourth public sector undertaking (PSU) order won by Suzlon in the financial year 2026.
The project, which will be developed in the Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, aims to support the decarbonization of GAIL’s upcoming petrochemical plant.
Suzlon will install 47 S120 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 2.1 MW, taking the total project capacity to around 100 MW.
The company’s scope includes the supply of wind turbines, equipment installation, erection, and commissioning of the project, as well as comprehensive post-commissioning operations and maintenance services.
Suzlon re-entered the PSU segment two years ago with a 1.1 GW order from NTPC and has since expanded its engagements with multiple government-backed entities. In Maharashtra, it has over 2.2 GW of installed wind energy capacity and an estimated 38% market share in the state’s total wind capacity of 5.8 GW.
Suzlon Group has a global installed wind energy capacity of approximately 21.5 GW across 17 countries as of December 31, 2025. Of this, about 15.5 GW is installed in India, while nearly 6 GW has been deployed internationally.
The company maintains research and development centers in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and India, and operates manufacturing facilities within India.
Earlier this year, Suzlon Group secured a 248.85 MW wind turbine generator order from Luxembourg-based steel and mining company ArcelorMittal Group through its Indian renewable energy entity, to decarbonize steel production.
In December 2025, Suzlon won two wind turbine supply contracts, totaling 306 MW, from Yanara for firm and dispatchable renewable energy projects in the Barmer district, Rajasthan.
In June 2025, Suzlon secured an order from AMPIN Energy Transition to supply 54 of its S144 wind turbine generators for a 170.1 MW project in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
