PGCIL Invites Bids for 20.68 MW Rooftop Solar Projects in 8 States

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has floated a tender for setting up rooftop solar systems with a cumulative capacity of 20.68 MW on its buildings and of other government offices under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in Rajasthan, Ladakh, Gujarat, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, and Assam.

The tender has been issued for five packages.

The last date to submit bids for Packages 1, 2, 3, and 4 is September 30, 2024, and October 1 for Package 5.

The scope of work covers design, engineering, manufacture, testing at the manufacturer’s work, supply including transportation and insurance, unloading, storage, erection, testing, and commissioning of the required equipment for the project.

The successful bidders must operate and maintain the projects for five years.

Bidders must have erected and commissioned a connected solar project with a minimum cumulative capacity of 1 MW in the preceding financial year. Bidders could also be manufacturers of solar PV modules, which are included in the latest Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

Alternatively, bidders can be distributors/dealers of solar PV modules who should have supplied modules with a cumulative capacity of at least 2 MW in the preceding financial year.

Bidders must have a minimum annual turnover for three out of five financial years for different packages as follows:

₹63.8 million (~$759,925) for Package 1 (Ladakh/ Rajasthan)

₹69.4 million (~$826,638) for Package 2 (Gujarat)

₹66 million (~$786,143) for Package 3 (Odisha)

₹68.4 million (~$6,84,00,000) for Package 4 (Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Puducherry)

₹23.5 million (~$279,929) for Package 5 (Assam)

In August 2024, REC Power Development and Consultancy handed over Bhadla-III Power Transmission to PGCIL at a cost of ₹64.2 million (~$765,151).

PGCIL also bagged two power transmission projects in Rajasthan through tariff-based competitive bidding. These projects are built to evacuate 5.5 GW of power from renewable energy zones in the state.
