The Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has won REC Power Development and Consultancy’s (RECPDCL) two transmission tenders to evacuate a cumulative 12 GW of power from renewable energy zone  Phase IV in Rajasthan.

The company bagged the tenders for two transmission projects of 6 GW each in the Bikaner complex.

PGCIL was declared as the successful bidder under tariff-based competitive bidding to establish an Inter-State transmission system for the projects, Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph -IV (Part-3: 6 GW) [Bikaner complex]: Part A, and Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph -IV (Part-3: 6 GW) [Bikaner complex]: Part B.

In addition to PGCIL, Sterlite Grid 32, Adani Energy Solutions, and Tata Power Company qualified for the technical round for both projects

Part A

The project comprises the establishment of a new 765/400/220 kV Bikaner IV pooling substation along with STATCOM and other equipment, a 765kV D/C transmission line traversing Rajasthan and Haryana, various 400kV D/C transmission lines traversing through Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, and bay extension works for the above lines at other existing substations in Haryana and Punjab.

Part B

The scope of work comprises establishing a new 765/400 kV Siwani substation along with STATCOM and other equipment, a 765kV D/C transmission line traversing the Rajasthan and Haryana, various 400kV D/C transmission lines traversing through Haryana, and bay extension works for the above lines at other existing substations in Rajasthan and Haryana.

The transmission program is being developed to evacuate an additional 6 GW of renewable energy from the Bikaner Complex (Bikaner-IV).

As part of this program, the 765/400/220 kV Bikaner-IV PS is being established for renewable energy injection along with its 400 kV D/C interconnections to Bikaner-II PS and Bikaner-III PS (through LILO).

For onward evacuation of power from Bikaner-IV PS, 765/400 kV Siwani S/s is being established along with 765 kV interconnections with Bikaner-IV PS through 2xD/C lines. For further dispersal of power towards load centers, 400 kV D/C interconnections with Jind (PG), Sonipat (PG), Patran (Indi Grid), and Fatehabad (PG) S/s are also being implemented.

Recently, PGCIL won PFC Consulting’s tender to evacuate 5.5 GW of renewable energy from Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer/Barmer complex.

In August, REC Power Development and Consultancy handed over Bhadla-III Power Transmission to PGCIL at a cost of ₹64.2 million (~$765,151).
