North Eastern Railway Invites Bids for 2.2 MW Rooftop Solar Projects

The North Eastern Railway has invited bids under two tenders for a cumulative capacity of 2.21 MW on-grid rooftop solar systems (without battery backup) at the railway station, service building, and residential quarters of the SSE/E/West Section of the Izzatnagar division in Uttar Pradesh.

The last day to submit bids for both tenders is November 14, 2024. Bids will be opened the same day.

The bidders must submit a 5% security deposit of the contract value.

Tender 1

The North Eastern Railways has invited bids for 1.16 MW of on-grid rooftop solar systems at the railway station and service building in the Izzatnagar division.

The advertised value of the tender is ₹57.8 million (~$687,470). Bidders must pay an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹439,500 (~$5,227).

Tender 2

The North Eastern Railways has invited bids for a 1.05 MW on-grid rooftop solar system (without battery backup) for the residential quarters of the SSE/E/West Section of the Izzatnagar division.

The advertised value of the tender is ₹52.37 million (~$622,886). Bidders must pay an EMD of ₹411,900 (~$4,899).

The scope of work for both the tenders covers the design and supply of an on-grid connected rooftop solar PV systems without battery backup, with items such as the mono/polycrystalline silicon solar cell connected in series (PV module), an aluminum solar PV module mounting structure, an array junction box, an inverter interfacing panel, and fire-resistant DC and fire-resistant AC cables of suitable length.

It also includes a solar-connected string inverter and a data logger, which will transfer data to a remote service platform for storage and analysis and display it in various visual and graphical formats on the web app and big screen.

Bidders must have a minimum average annual contractual turnover of V/N or V, whichever is less. V is the advertised value of the tender in crores of rupees, and N = the number of years prescribed for the completion of work to be eligible to bid for both the tenders.

Bidders must have completed any one of the following categories of works during the last seven years:

  • Three similar works, each costing not less than 30% of the advertised value of the tender.
  • Two similar works, each costing not less than 40% of the advertised value of the tender.
  • One similar work costing not less than 60% of the advertised value of the tender.

The modules must carry a five-year warranty and ensure over 20% efficiency.

The North Eastern Railway also tendered the installation of grid-connected rooftop solar systems of a total capacity of 1.94 MW at railway stations, service buildings, residential quarters, and level crossings under Phase II in the Lucknow Division.

In May, the North Eastern Railway invited tenders for 1.15 MW rooftop solar projects at railway stations.
