NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, has invited bids to develop 100 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid projects in India.

The hybrid project will consist of 50 MW solar PV and 50 MW wind power on a Build-Own-Operate basis.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Power‘s program to enhance flexibility in generating and scheduling thermal and hydropower stations through bundling with renewable energy and storage power. The government has set a target to replace 58,000 MU of thermal generation in the government and private sectors with renewable energy.

The last date to submit bids is July 18, 2024. Bids will be opened on the next day.

Bidders must submit a processing fee of ₹500,000 (~$6,100) and an earnest money deposit of ₹1.2 million (~$14,900) per MW per project. The power procurer can enter into a power purchase agreement with the hybrid power developer for 15 years.

Bidders can be a company or a consortium, including foreign companies registered as per their respective country’s regulations. They must have experience developing, operating, and maintaining power projects of cumulative installed capacity that are not less than 50% of the total bid capacity.

They must have a net worth of at least ₹12.3 million (~$149,700) per MW of the quoted capacity as of the last date of the financial year preceding the bid deadline. They must demonstrate a minimum annual turnover of ₹4.1 million (~$49,900) per MW of the quoted capacity during the previous financial year.

The internal resource generation capability, in the form of profit before depreciation interest and taxes, for the previous financial year should be at least ₹820,000 (~$10,000) per MW of the quoted capacity.

Bidders must also have in-principle approval from lenders for a minimum of 70% of the project cost, including the land cost.

Recently, NVVN invited bids to select channel partners for installing grid-connected rooftop solar power systems under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Chhattisgarh.

Earlier, NVVN invited bids from channel partners to install grid-connected solar power systems under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in the districts of Andhra Pradesh covered under Central Power Distribution Company and Eastern Power Distribution Company.
