North Western Railway Invites Bids for 2 MW Rooftop Solar Systems

The Bikaner Division — Electrical, North Western Railway, has issued a tender for a cumulative capacity of 2,068 kW grid-connected rooftop solar power systems at railway residential quarters.

The last date to submit bids is August 23, 2024. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹604,700 (~$7,215). The advertised value of the tender is ₹9.09 million (~$108,122). The project should be completed within four months.

The scope of work covers the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 2,068 kW on-grid solar projects at railway residential areas in the Bikaner Division. It also includes a wall-mounted type inverter, SPV array, module mounting structure, power conditioning unit, MPPT, controls, protections, interconnecting cables, switch gears, and the required features to improve the grid power.

Bidders should have a valid electrical contractor license issued by the government.

They should have also completed any one of the following during the last seven years –

  • Three similar works, each costing not less than the amount equal to 30% of the tender’s advertised value
  • Two similar works, each costing not less than the amount equal to 40% of the tender’s advertised value
  • One similar work, each costing not less than the amount equal to 60% of tender’s advertised value

Bidders must have a minimum average annual contractual turnover of V/N or V whichever is less; where V= advertised value of the tender in rupees and N= number of years prescribed for the completion of work. The average annual contractual turnover will be calculated as an average of total contractual payments in the previous three financial years, as per the audited balance sheet.

In June, the Hyderabad Division, Electrical—South Central Railway, issued a tender for 2.742 MW of rooftop solar systems of different capacities at station buildings, residential buildings, and level crossings and a ground-mounted 300 kW solar project.

In May, the South Central Railway invited bids for setting up grid-connected rooftop solar projects of a cumulative capacity of 1.55 MW at various service buildings and railway colonies in the Chennai Division.
