Max Healthcare Signs 4 MW Solar Power Purchase Agreement with Sunsure

The Noida hospital’s energy expenses are likely to halve with the procurement of solar

Delhi-based hospital chain Max Healthcare has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with renewable energy solutions provider Sunsure Energy to procure 4 MW of power from the latter’s 15 MW solar project in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh.

The power will be delivered to Max Healthcare’s Super Specialty Hospital in Noida.

The solar power procurement is expected to cut the hospital’s energy bills by 50%.

In the financial year (FY) 2025, Max Healthcare utilized 56,234 GJ of renewable energy across its network, compared to 8,572 GJ in FY 2024. Within the year, its renewable energy usage stood at 17%, and it plans to expand it to 60%.

Max Healthcare has also signed PPAs to procure renewable power for four of its facilities. It signed deals to procure solar power under group captive model at its Vaishali and Nagpur facilities.

It also doubled its onsite solar capacity in FY 2025, with additional installations at Shalimar Bagh, Dwarka, and Bathinda, and expanding its existing solar capacities in Gurgaon and Vaishali.

In the same year, Max Healthcare also implemented a grid-connected carport solar project at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Bathinda.

As part of its corporate social responsibility activities, Max Healthcare implemented a grid-connected solar power project with net metering at two community centres in Mohali. The projects will generate approximately 56,000 units of clean electricity annually.

Max Healthcare installed a 395 kWp rooftop solar project for its facility in Vaishali and signed a PPA with Avaada Group to procure 5.4 million units of renewable energy annually under the group captive model.

Sunsure has operationalized 260 MWp of open access projects in Uttar Pradesh, supplying power to Dabur, Inox Air Products, Kajaria, Gallant Ispat, APL Apollo, Merino Industries, and Orient Bell.

Across India, the company has an operational portfolio of 600 MW, with 7.1 GW of projects at various stages of development in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Karnataka.

Sunsure aims to scale its operational capacity in Uttar Pradesh to 500 MW by the end of FY 2026, with a mix of solar and storage.

n 2025, Sunsure commissioned an 82.5 MW group captive solar project in Erach, Jhansi, in Uttar Pradesh, supplying solar power to Haldiram’s, APL Apollo, and to one of the country’s largest data centers.

In the first nine months of 2025, Uttar Pradesh added 1,842.4 MW solar open access capacity, according to Mercom India’s Q3 2025 Solar Open Access Market Report.
