Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) has invited bids for the design, supply, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of 10 MT solar cold storage units in Bihar.

The last date for submitting bids is July 8, 2024. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Bidders will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the project for five years.

Bidders must pay ₹5,000 (~$59.9) for the document fee and an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹500,000 (~$5,996).

The successful bidder must also deposit an amount of 5% of every work order as a performance bank guarantee.

The project is eligible for a 50% subsidy for installing a 10 MT solar cold room. This means that the farmers will cover 50% of the total installation cost, and the remaining 50% will be covered by the directorate.

The credit-linked program requires the beneficiary to obtain a bank loan to participate.

The subsidy will be released in two stages according to the following terms:

  • The first installment, comprising 50% of the subsidy amount, will be disbursed after the machinery has been delivered to the site and a joint inspection team from the Directorate of Horticulture has provided a satisfactory report.
  • The second installment, the remaining 50% of the subsidy amount, will be disbursed after installing and commissioning the solar cold storage unit, along with a satisfactory report from the joint inspection team constituted by the Directorate of Horticulture.

Bidders should have cumulative experience executing contracts for the design, supply, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of at least five cold storage systems of any capacity for any central government/state government/PSUs/government agency bodies, registered cooperative, or society, and private agency in the last three financial years.

The average annual turnover of the bidders should not be less than ₹50 million (~$599,721) during the last three consecutive financial years.

Only solar modules from the updated Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) list must be used.

Recently, BREDA invited bids to empanel bidders to connect non-functional off-grid solar power projects on government buildings to the grid.
