NTPC Renewable Energy has invited bids for a Balance of System (BoS) package for a 1 GW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind energy project in the Davangere region, Karnataka (Tranche-IV). The last date for the submission of bids is July 15, 2024. Bids will be opened on the same day. Bidders must pay ₹22,500 (~$269) towards the cost of the bidding document.
Solar module manufacturer Vikram Solar has secured a 393.9 MW supply order from NLC India for its Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat. NLC had invited bids for the supply order earlier this year. It had said that the company reserves the right to ask the bidder to supply up to 30% additional solar modules on the same terms and conditions. The deal brings Vikram Solar’s total contracted module supply for the Khavda Solar Park to over 1 GW, the company said in a press release.
NTPC has invited bids for the supply, installation, commissioning, and integration of a 600 kW/3000 kWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery storage system at the NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance facility in Greater Noida. Unlike conventional batteries, which store energy in solid electrodes, flow batteries store energy in liquid electrolytes that flow through the system. The last date for bid submission is July 8, 2024. Bids will be opened the next day. A bid security amount of ₹2 million (~$24,000) is required.
NTPC Renewable Energy has invited bids for a balance of system (BoS) package for a 1,000 MW ISTS-connected wind energy project in the Bellary region, Karnataka (Tranche-V). The last date for the submission of bids is July 16, 2024. Bids will be opened on the same day. The scope of work covers the detailed design, engineering, micro-siting, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, and verification of guaranteed performance parameters for installing the proposed wind project.
The International Finance Corporation will partially finance a 550 MW solar power project being developed by Brookfield Asset Management in Bikaner, Rajasthan, with a $105 million investment. The investment will be through long-term non-convertible debentures assigned to the project’s special purpose vehicles, which will implement the project. The project will be connected to the inter-state transmission system of India’s green energy corridor.
NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN), a subsidiary of NTPC, has invited bids to select channel partners for installing grid-connected rooftop solar power systems under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The last date for the submission of bids is July 2, 2024. Bids will be opened on July 3. NVVN aims to engage channel partners who will collaborate with EPC vendors and DISCOMs to complete the installation of the rooftop solar systems.
Green Day-Ahead Market (GDAM) has provided new opportunities for renewable energy generators and distribution companies (DISCOMs) to trade surplus power on exchanges. Power generators affected by long-delayed payments from DISCOMs and those with surplus power from projects linked to power purchase agreements can sell their excess power on exchanges, preventing it from going to waste. GDAM reduces green power curtailment, ensures instant payments for power sold on the same day it is delivered, and opens a new market for untapped renewable energy potential.
Global offshore wind saw its second-highest capacity installations in 2023, according to a new report by the Global Wind Energy Council. The industry added 10.8 GW of new capacity in 2023, up 24% from the previous year, bringing the global total to 75.2 GW. China continues to lead the world in offshore wind development, adding 6.3 GW in 2023. Other notable contributions came from Taiwan with 692 MW, Japan with 140 MW, and South Korea with 4.2 MW.
