Western Coalfields, a subsidiary of Coal India, has invited bids to install 1.343 MW of rooftop solar systems at its residential and non-residential buildings.

Bids must be submitted by April 10, 2025. Bids will be opened on April 12.

The systems must be installed within 180 days of receiving the work order. The installer must also oversee the systems’ maintenance for five years after the initial one year warranty period.

The estimated work cost is ₹60.03 million (~$687,664).

Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹750,400 (~$8,596).

The selected bidder must submit 5% of the contract amount as a performance security within 21 days of issuance of the letter of intent. All running-on-account bills will be paid at 95% of the work value, and the balance 5% will be retained towards the security deposit.

Bidders must have completed three similar works valued at not less than 40% of the estimated work cost each, two similar works valued at not less than 50% of the estimated work cost each, or one similar work valued at not less than 80% of the estimated work cost during last seven years.

The average annual financial turnover of the bidders during the last three years should be at least 30% of the estimated work cost.

The rooftop systems must have a minimum capacity utilization factor of 17%.

Contractors failing to complete the work and clear the site by the agreed commissioning date will be liable to pay liquidated damages at 0.5% of the contract amount for each week of delay. However, the total penalty cannot exceed 10% of the overall contract amount.

Recently, South Eastern Coalfields invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction of 1,160 kW grid-connected rooftop solar systems on 12 residential and non-residential buildings.

Central Mine Planning and Design Institute also invited bids to implement a grid-connected 1,300 kW rooftop solar power project for Northern Coalfields.
