As India’s economy expands, its energy demand will multiply over the next decade. To meet this demand, India must provide affordable and reliable energy while reducing dependence on fossil fuels and minimizing environmental and health costs.

India has set an ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, positioning itself as one of the world’s largest green energy markets. The country has also committed to achieving net zero by 2070.

The scale of the proposed renewable capacity addition provides unprecedented opportunities for domestic and global renewable players to innovate and operate in a challenging domestic policy environment amidst a shifting global renewable supply chain.

The upcoming ‘Mercom India Renewables Summit 2024,’ scheduled for July 25-26 in New Delhi, will address these critical issues. One of the key sessions, titled ‘Accelerating India’s Energy Transition: Urgency is the Driving Force,’ will take place on July 25, 2024.

This session will feature discussions among industry leaders, exploring key topics such as demand and supply continuity, planning and delivery, and the policy environment to overcome challenges and achieve targets on time.

The session will feature Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy; R.P. Gupta, CMD of Solar Energy Corporation of India; Indra Chandra Prasad Keshari, Advisor – Infrastructure and Energy at Adani Green Energy; Sarit Maheshwari, CEO of NTPC Renewable Energy; and Raj Prabhu, CEO & Co-Founder at Mercom Capital Group.

Priya Sanjay, Managing Director, Mercom India, will moderate the session.

The panel will explore the path to net zero and discuss how India can achieve its renewable energy goals. Key topics will include the investments needed to make the targets a reality, demand-supply scenarios, infrastructure, and the policies required to instill confidence in the investment community to fund the transition to renewables.

Mercom will also hold its fourth annual Mercom India Awards at the Summit, recognizing the exceptional achievement and technological innovations by companies contributing to India’s clean energy industry.

The event will also feature the second edition of the Startup Pitch Competition, which will provide the stage for Indian entrepreneurs and companies to present their innovative cleantech ideas or technologies in early-stage development.

Register now to attend this pivotal event and be part of shaping the future of India’s renewable energy landscape.
