The Assam Energy Development Agency (AEDA) has awarded a work order to Ujaas Energy, a solar project developer and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 2 MW, grid-connected rooftop solar project on an aggregated basis in Assam. The project will be developed under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model.

Prior to this, in September, the Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (JREDA) also awarded two contracts to Ujaas Energy for the installation and commissioning of 8.5 MW of grid‑connected, rooftop solar PV projects in Jharkhand.

Ujaas Energy was also awarded a contract by the West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA) to develop a total of 1.5 MW of solar. The company also received a letter of award (LOA) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop an aggregate of 20.03 MW of rooftop solar PV systems to be installed on government buildings across India. The company was also awarded an EPC contract to develop 500 kW rooftop solar projects for Oil India Limited (IOL).

When asked about the surge in projects awarded to Ujaas Energy, an Ujaas executive told Mercom, “We have built up our credentials and strengths in terms of partners, projects, and workforce – making it easier for us to land projects.” The executive went on to add that, “We have been doing lots of rooftop solar projects and through quality products have gained trust and a reputation which has expanded our clientele.”

When asked about plans for the next six months, the Ujaas Energy executive said, “We are going aggressively for residential rooftop now. We have a product specifically targeting residential rooftops, Ujaas Home; we have set a target of 10 MW for this product by March 2018.” The executive added that the products Ujaas Energy offers range from 1 kW to 10 kW.
