THDC India has invited bids to set up 100.1 MW/135 MWp ground-mounted solar power projects at Karnataka Power Corporation’s (KPCL) thermal projects in Bellary and Raichur, Karnataka.
Bids must be submitted by January 30, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.
Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹82.2 million (~$953,594).
Selected bidders must design, engineer, procure, and supply 100.1MW/135.2 MWp solar projects by empanelled vendors of THDC in an engineering procurement and construction mode. They must also operate and maintain the facilities for three years.
The cumulative 100.1 MW capacity comprises the following solar projects:
- 9MW(AC)/72.8MW at Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS)
- 8MW(AC)/41.6MW at Yeramarus Thermal Power Station (YTPS)
- 4MW(AC)/20.8MW Bellary Thermal Power Stations (BTPS)
Successful bidders must establish a bay extension at the 220 kV switchyard within the RTPS and BTPS premises. The delivery point (metering point) for both locations will be at the HV busbar of the respective substation. The delivery point at YTPS will be at the HV busbar Chicksugur substation, 2 km from the project, at 110 kV. Successful bidders must construct the bay extension at the 110 kV switchyard, including the augmentation of the bay along with the power transformer.
They must conduct geotechnical and geophysical investigations at the proposed locations of the solar projects.
The project’s estimated cost is ₹4.1 billion (~$47.56 million).
The solar modules must be sourced only from the models and manufacturers included in List-I (Solar PV Modules) under the approved list of models and manufacturers.
Bidders must be class-I local suppliers.
THDCIL and KPDC signed a memorandum of understanding in November 2023 to develop hydro, solar, and pumped storage projects in Karnataka. Land available with the Bellary, Raichur, and Yeramarus thermal power stations was identified for the projects.
In May 2024, THDCIL invited bids for the development of 600 MW to 2,000 MW on/off stream pumped storage projects on a turnkey basis with operation and maintenance for 15 years in various states in India.
