Large commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers are increasingly adopting solar power to advance their sustainability objectives and lower electricity costs. Companies with steady power demand can achieve substantial savings by installing solar systems on unused rooftop spaces.

Rooftop solar is emerging as one of the most affordable and environmentally friendly energy sources, making it an attractive option for businesses looking to lower operating expenses.

New Delhi-based textile mill RMP Group specializes in woven fabrics and produces approximately 45 million meters of fabric annually. It has recently opted for a 433-kW rooftop solar installation at its Faridabad facility to reduce power costs.

The project was installed by Asun Solar in May this year. RMP Group expects to cut power costs by 83% with this installation. It also has a manufacturing plant at Panipat.

Asun Solar installed the rooftop system in one month. Luminous supplied the modules and inverters for the project.

The rooftop solar project will generate around 1,150-1,200 units per MW per month, and the total savings for the year are expected to be around ₹6.63 million (~$69,506).

The modules used for the project are 6.25 Wp N-Type TOPCon solar modules.

The company said it didn’t face any challenges during the project’s installation.

Asun Solar will provide maintenance for the project for 15 years.

India added 2.7 GW of rooftop solar capacity in the first quarter of 2026, a year-over-year growth of 125.4% from 1.2 GW, according to Mercom India Research’s Q1 2026 India Rooftop Solar Market Report. India’s cumulative rooftop solar installations reached 23.5 GW at the end of March 2026.

Mercom India also hosts a pan-India C&I Clean Energy Meet series, bringing renewable energy developers and commercial and industrial power consumers together to discuss clean energy adoption. The next event will be held in Hyderabad on August 21, 2026.
