CERC approves adoption of tariffs for 1,175 MW wind projects

The Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission has allowed an additional surcharge of ₹1.09 (~$0.012)/kWh for open access consumers for the second half (2H) of the financial year (FY) 2024-25. The additional surcharge will be levied on the quantity of electricity scheduled. The additional surcharge will not apply to open access consumers wheeling power from their captive power projects. In a suo motu order issued on September 18, 2020, the Commission told distribution companies (DISCOM) to submit filings to determine the additional surcharge for the first half of the year.

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved the adoption of the tariff for 1,175 MW wind projects (Tranche-XVI) connected to the Inter-State Transmission System, selected through a competitive bidding process as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Power. The order was issued in response to a petition filed by the Solar Energy Corporation of India seeking the adoption of a tariff under Section 63 of the Electricity Act. SECI filed a petition to adopt the tariffs for the wind projects and approve the trading margin of ₹0.07(~$0.0083)/kWh as agreed to by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL).

Renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Group has secured an order to supply wind turbine generators for a 400 MW wind energy project from JSP Green Wind, part of Jindal Renewables.Suzlon will supply 127 WTGs with Hybrid Lattice Tubular towers and a rated capacity of 3.15 MW each to the wind project to be executed in the Koppal region of Karnataka.The electricity generated from the project will be used for captive consumption in Jindal’s steel plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Suzlon’s total order book now stands at close to 5.4 GW.

SJVN Green Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, has invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction of solar photovoltaic power projects up to a capacity of 200 MW anywhere in Gujarat under GUVNL Phase XXII. The last date to submit bids is November 5, 2024. Bids will be opened on the same day. Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹69 million (~$821,845) for 50 MW projects, ₹138 million (~$1.64 million) for 100 MW projects, ₹207 million (~$ 2.46 million) for 150 MW projects, and ₹276 million (~$3.28 million) for 200 MW projects. Bidders must have completed at least one of the works in the last ten years.

The Power Grid Corporation of India has won PFC Consulting’s tender to evacuate 5.5 GW of renewable energy from the Jaisalmer/Barmer complex in Rajasthan. The tender was called to establish an inter-state transmission system for the “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph -IV (Part-2: 5.5 GW) (Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex): Part F (By clubbing Part F1 & F2)” on build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis.” The project comprises the establishment of a new 765/400/220kV Barmer-I Pooling substation, 765 kV and 400 kV D/C transmission lines, and associated bay extension works at other existing substations in Rajasthan. The project is expected to be commissioned within two years. Apart from PGCIL, Adani Energy Solutions and Sterlite Grid 31 also qualified for the technical round. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Solar Energy Corporation of India has identified 181.5 GW of Renewable Energy Zones in eight states.

Mahanadi Coalfields, a subsidiary of Coal India, has invited bids for the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, metering, insurance, and quality control of an aggregated capacity of 1.5 MW grid-connected rooftop solar systems. The scope of work includes comprehensive annual maintenance of the rooftop solar systems for five years. The project must be completed in 240 days. The last date to submit bids is November 10, 2024. Bids will be opened on November 11.

Servotech Power Systems, an electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions provider, has secured an order to build nine EV charging stations for the Nashik Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra. With the new order win, Servotech will install 29 EV charging stations in Nashik. NMC floated a tender to install 20 EV charging stations in July 2023. The work included a location survey, supply, commissioning, and construction of the charging stations. Under the tender, 20 four-wheeler dual gun CCS2 (60 kW) DC plus 100 two/three-wheeler (3.3 kW) AC chargers were to be installed. Servotech will oversee the installation, supply, and maintenance of EV charging stations.
