<p>Vakrangee Limited, a technology-oriented company, has announced that it will establish charging infrastructure units for electric vehicles (EV) across India.</p>
<p>The facilities will be set up at the company’s Nextgen Vakrangee Kendra centers, which are last-mile retail points of sale. Electric vehicle operators could capitalize on this network of charging stations, avoiding the arduous task of establishing their own.</p>
<p>There are almost 3,504 Nextgen Vakrangee Kendras located in 19 states across India, and most of these centers are in tier 5 and tier 6 cities. The company’s goal is to reach 0.3 million outlets by FY 2024-25.</p>
<p>“We believe that the electric vehicle space is a huge growth opportunity for the coming years, and we want to be future-ready by developing a pan India footprint of EV charging infrastructure. We would be an enabler by providing the distribution platform for the EV charging facility through our partnership with the EV service providers,” said Dinesh Nandwana, Executive Chairman of Vakrangee.</p>
<p>Recently, a Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME India II) update has increased the number of subsidies for electric vehicles in the country. <a href="https://mercomindia.com/niti-aayog-ev-transition-plan-2030/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">NITI Aayog</a> has also put out a robust road map for electric vehicle adoption over a three, five, and ten-year period. With all these developments in the pipeline, the government envisages 25% of all vehicles on roads to be electric by 2030. This will require a wide and strong network of electric vehicle charging stations to be erected across the country. The latest <a href="https://mercomindia.com/budget-2019-india-e-mobility-ev/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Union Budget</a> also has provisions in this regard.</p>
<p>This June, the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (<a href="https://mercomindia.com/bescom-plans-678-ev-charging-karnataka/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">BESCOM</a>) came up with a plan to establish 678 electric vehicle charging stations across Karnataka. The proposal has 100 charging stations that will be established across Bengaluru.</p>
<p>Earlier,  the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (<a href="https://mercomindia.com/uttar-pradesh-eoi-ev-charging-stations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">UPEIDA</a>) had floated an expression of interest to establish charging stations for EVs in cities, highways, and expressways across the state.</p>
