<p>Sambhar Salts Limited, a subsidiary of Hindustan Salts Limited (a government-owned salt company), has invited <a href="http://www.indiansalt.com/hsldata/tender/Tender570.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">expression of interest</a> to develop a 100 MW solar project in Sambhar, Rajasthan. The deadline for submission is January 19, 2017.</p>
<p>The project calls for a revenue share model between Sambhar and the winning engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. Sambhar Salts will provide the land for the project. The successful bidder will provide both EPC, and operation and maintenance of the project for a 25-year period.</p>
<p>Sambar Salts plans to expand beyond the 100 MW. The land where the project will be built can evacuate unto 500 MW and is strategically located 6km from the 220 kV Phulera Substation and 80km from the 400 kV Hirapur substation of Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL). It is also near to Kisangarh Industrial Area, Ajmer Smart City, and the proposed dedicated freight corridor near Phulera.</p>
<p>According to Mercom’s <em>India Solar Project Tracker</em>, Rajasthan has 1,324 MW of large-scale solar projects in operation and 1,206 MW under various stages of development.</p>
