<p>The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (<a href="https://mmrda.maharashtra.gov.in/home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MMRDA</a>) has tendered 2 MW of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) projects to be developed atop Mumbai monorail stations and sites.</p>
<p>The bid-submission deadline is December 26, 2018.</p>
<p>The project will be developed under RESCO mode. The scope of work includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, storage, civil work, installation, testing, and commissioning of the rooftop solar PV project.</p>
<p>The successful bidder will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&amp;M) of the project for a period of 25 years. The estimated project cost is ₹120 million (~$1.7 million) and the project completion timeframe is 12 months from the issuance of the letter of allotment.</p>
<p>“The MMRDA has issued this tender because it wants to cut down on power costs and make the monorail premises carbon zero. We will soon be making two new monorail corridors operational in the city. This will substantially add to our operational electricity costs,” stated an MMRDA official aware of the tender.</p>
<p>The official further stated, “This 2 MW project, once installed and operational, will help us save in millions. The entire project cost will be recovered in a few months in terms of power savings.”</p>
<p><a href="https://mercomindia.com/tata-power-solar-rooftop-cricket-club-india/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Recently</a>, the Cricket Club of India (CCI), located in Mumbai, also turned to solar power to cut down on its power consumption cost and curb the emission of over 840 tons of carbon dioxide annually. The 820.8 kWp rooftop solar PV project is the world’s largest rooftop installation atop a cricket stadium.</p>
<p><a href="https://mercomindia.com/dmrc-tenders-solar-projects-nmrc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Similarly, earlier this year</a>, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (<a href="http://www.delhimetrorail.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DMRC</a>) tendered 10 MW of grid-connected solar projects on behalf of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). Other recent efforts to raise <a href="http://www.delhimetrorail.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DMRC’s</a> solar capacity include a December 2017 tender issued by the organization for the development of 8 MW of grid-connected rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV projects at various DMRC sites in the national capital. In <a href="https://mercomindia.com/delhi-metro-rail-corporation-tenders-2-2-mw-rooftop-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">July 2017</a>, DMRC also tendered a 2.2 MW rooftop solar project to be developed at its premises.</p>
