					</table><p>The average cost of large-scale solar projects in India dropped by almost 23% year-over-year (YoY) in the third quarter (Q3) of calendar year (CY) 2024, according to Mercom India Research&#8217;s recently released <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/product/q3-2024-india-solar-market-update" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Q3 2024 India Solar Market Quarterly Update.</a> The costs remained flat quarter-over-quarter (QoQ).</p>
<p>By September 2024, solar module prices had declined for more than seven consecutive quarters, resulting in lower project costs.</p>
<p>In Q3 2024, solar module costs fell 3.3% QoQ, accounting for almost 47% of average large-scale solar project costs.</p>

<p>The average selling price (ASP) of the Indian monocrystalline Passivated Emitter Rear Contact (mono PERC) modules dropped 7% QoQ and over 38% YoY due to the falling prices of imported solar cells.</p>
<p>The ASP of the Chinese mono PERC module was down by more than 13% QoQ and over 52% YoY. A significant inventory of unsold solar modules led to a further price drop in Q3.</p>
<p>Despite the reimposition of the ALMM order, a significant capacity of large-scale solar projects with the final bid submission date <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mnre-clarifies-applicability-for-solar-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">before</a> April 10, 2021, installers or developers of behind-the-meter projects and a few other projects were able to import modules in the quarter.</p>
<p>Despite the reimposition of the ALMM order, a substantial number of large-scale solar projects, whose final bid submission date was <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mnre-clarifies-applicability-for-solar-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">before</a> April 10, 2021, along with installers or developers of behind-the-meter projects, were able to import modules during the quarter.</p>
<p>India <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/india-solar-cell-module-imports-q3-2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">imported</a> solar cells and modules amounting to $986.5 million (~₹82.6 billion) in Q3 2024, up 27.3% QoQ from $774.9 million (~₹64.6 billion). Imports dropped 18.8% YoY from $1.2 billion (~₹101.6 billion).</p>
<p>The ASPs of Indian mono PERC modules, compliant with domestic content requirement (DCR), were over 52% higher than those of non-DCR compliant modules. The country&#8217;s limited cell production capacity, increased raw material prices, including silver and aluminum, and increased project demand have created a demand-supply gap and raised costs for domestic manufacturers of DCR-compliant modules.</p>
<p>The average module mounting structure cost was up by 5.7%, and the power conditioning unit cost rose marginally QoQ. Module mounting structures accounted for 9.2%, and the power conditioning unit comprised 6% of the project cost.</p>
<p>The cost of other balance of system (BoS) components remains stable, contributing to 1.6% of the total cost.</p>
<p>The country <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/india-16-gw-solar-capacity-9m-2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a> 2.8 GW of large-scale solar capacity in Q3 2024, down 34% QoQ and up almost 77% YoY.</p>
<p>India&#8217;s cumulative installed solar capacity stood at 89.1 GW as of September 2024. Large-scale solar projects comprised over 86% of the installations, and rooftop solar projects made up almost 14%.</p>

<p>Goodluck India led the solar module mounting structure shipments with a market share of 25.5%. Arctech and Strolar Mounting Systems followed with 15.5% and 14.9% of the shipments. Raydean Industries and Metalkraft Forming Industries rounded off the top five with markets share of 13.7% and 11.9%.</p>

<p>Mounting structures in ground-mounted or rooftop solar projects ensure optimum energy generation. They carry the weight of solar modules and are built to withstand high wind speeds. These structures must endure seasonal variations and the challenging conditions typical of solar power project sites in India.</p>
<p>As of June 2024, Goodluck India had a production capacity of 412,000 metric tons per annum. In January 2024, the company raised nearly ₹2 billion (~$24.1 million) through a qualified institutional placement.</p>
<p>Arctech has a combined annual production capacity of 13 GW, which includes a 3 GW manufacturing facility in Mundra, Gujarat. The company is also planning to expand by adding a 3 GW production unit in Saudi Arabia.</p>
<p>Strolar Mounting Systems operates with a production capacity of 5,000 MT per month for steel-based solar module mounting structures and 45 MW per month for aluminum-based mounting structures at its facilities in Taloja and Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.</p>
<p>Raydean Industries produces module mounting structures for rooftop solar installations, with a manufacturing capacity of 3,800 MT per month, equivalent to about 10 MWp.</p>
<p>Metalkraft Forming Industries, based in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, has a production capacity of 4,500 MT per month.</p>

<p>The conditions in India demand mounting structures that can sustain the seasonality and rough conditions of the areas where solar power projects are established.</p>
<p><strong>Strolar Mounting Systems</strong> became the top mounting structure supplier, accounting for 18.5% of the total capacity supplied in 1H 2023. Its product range includes both roof and ground mounting solutions, catering to a wide range of projects. Strolar has an in-house manufacturing capacity of 5,000 MT per month of solar module mounting structures. The company recently launched its new Single Axis tracker for large-scale projects in the Indian market.</p>
<p><strong>Goodluck India</strong> ranked second on the list, dropping by one position from the previous year. The company accounted for 17.1% of the total capacity supplied in 1H 2023.</p>
<p>Goodluck India specializes in manufacturing metal products for transmission/telecom towers, railways/road bridges, solar mounting structures, etc. The company offers a wide range of mounting structure solutions for large-scale solar projects. The company has an in-house design department to manufacture module support structures.</p>
<p>Goodluck has a manufacturing capability of 5,000 MT per month.</p>
<p><strong>Raydean Industries</strong> held the third position with a 14% market share of the total supply capacity from January to June 2023.</p>
<p>The company offers a range of metallic structures in solar projects, telecom towers, and transmission line projects. Raydean Industries has supplied nearly 3 GW of solar projects with mounting structures in India until the end of June 2023.</p>

Strolar, Goodluck, Raydean – Leading Module Mounting Structure Suppliers in 1H 2023

<p>Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (<a href="https://www.bhel.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BHEL</a>) has invited bids from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to supply 42,000 metric tons (MT) of module mounting structures.</p>
<p>The last date to submit the bids is December 29, 2021. Bids will be opened on the same day.</p>
<p>The MoU will remain valid for one year.</p>
<p>The vendor must procure raw materials from OEM sub-vendors such as Tata Steel, Steel Authority of India Limited, Jindal Steel, and the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam.</p>
<p>The mounting structures should be hot-dip galvanized with an average coating thickness of at least 80 microns. The local coating thickness should be a minimum of 70 microns for protection against corrosion.</p>
<p>The pre-galvanized material coating should conform to IS:277. Galvanization should not be less than 550 GSM (both sides), and base metal thickness to be as per BHEL specifications. The exposed edges of the material should be painted with zinc-rich paint or spray for edge protection.</p>
<p>The components should be packed in bundles with steel straps and corner wedges of plastic or rubber to prevent damage to the surface during handling. The bundles should be supplied in lots of 50 and 100 for easy handling and accounting.</p>
<p>The supplied MMS should carry a warranty for a minimum of 18 months from the date of supply.</p>
<p>The bidder should be a manufacturer and have an in-house cold roll forming facility with a minimum capacity of 200 MT for Category CRF-I, 500 MT for Category CRF-II, 800 MT for Category CRF-III, 1,000 MT for Category CRF-IV, 200 MT for Category CF-V, and 500 MT for Category CF-VI.</p>
<p>Also, the bidder should either have an in-house galvanization facility or a hot-dip galvanization factory at one of its subsidiaries or a tie-up with another company.</p>
<p>BHEL specified that 25% of the tendered quantity had been earmarked for micro and small enterprise (MSE) suppliers. Of this quantity, 6.25% has been allocated for procurement from MSEs owned by Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe entrepreneurs and 3% from women-owned MSEs.</p>
<p>An MSE vendor quoting within the price band of lowest (L1) + 15% will be allowed to supply 25% of the requirement subject to the acceptance of the L1 price. In case the L1 bidder is not an MSE, then all the MSE vendors who have quoted within the range of L1 + 15% will be given the opportunity in order of their ranking to bring down their price to match the L1 price. The contract will be awarded to the MSE vendor who matches the price quoted by the L1 bidder.</p>
<p>If the quantity is not supplied within the stipulated time, the vendor will have to pay liquidated damages at 0.5% of the contract value, subject to a maximum of 10% of the total contract value.</p>
<p>In May this year, BHEL <a href="https://mercomindia.com/bhel-module-mounting-tender-500-mw/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids for the supply of 2,250 MT of module mounting structures (3mm and above) for the 500 MW solar project at Neemuch Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh.</p>
<p>Earlier, BHEL had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/bhel-module-mounting-tender-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> a request for a quotation for the supply of module mounting structures for Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited’s solar projects in the state.</p>

BHEL Invites Bids for the Supply of 42,000 MT of Module Mounting Structures

<p>The Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL), the government-owned manufacturer of electronic products, has issued three separate notices inviting tenders for rate contracts for the procurement of 4.5 watts (W) solar cells, 4.6 W solar cells, and module mounting structures.</p>
<p><strong>Tender for the procurement of 4.5 W solar cells </strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong>The first tender pertains to the procurement of 1.2 million crystalline silicon solar cells of 4.5W. Bidders would be expected to provide samples for a quantity of 140 units. The last date for the submission of bids for this tender is September 26, 2019.</p>
<p><strong>Tender for the procurement of 4.6 W solar cells </strong></p>
<p>The second tender is for the procurement of 1 million crystalline silicon solar cells of 4.6 W. Bidders are expected to provide samples for a quantity of 100 units of solar cells. The last date for bid submission is September 20, 2019.</p>
<p><strong>Tender to procure module mounting structures </strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong>The third tender has been issued to procure solar photovoltaic module mounting structures for modules of 250W, 300W, and 335W. The total quantity of module mounting structures to be procured is 270. The last date of submission of bids is October 1, 2019.</p>
<p>In <a href="https://mercomindia.com/reil-tender-rooftop-solar-government-buildings-jaipur/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">August 2019</a>, REIL had issued a tender for the installation and commissioning of 2 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects at several government buildings in the capital city of Jaipur.</p>
<p>In <a href="https://mercomindia.com/reil-tender-solar-modules/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">July 2019</a>, REIL issued a tender for the manufacturing of crystalline SPV modules of 75W. The scope of work for the tender included contract manufacturing of crystalline SPV modules of 75W made from 36 crystalline silicon solar cells. The contract was to be signed for 25,000 of such modules that would also need to adhere to various technical specifications.</p>
