<p>Azure Roof Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of <a href="http://www.azurepower.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Azure Power</a>, has won a bid to develop 1.3 MW of rooftop solar for the <a href="http://mohfw.nic.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ministry of Health and Family Welfare</a>, India. Azure won the project in an auction conducted by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (<a href="http://nvvn.co.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NVVN</a>), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC.</p>
<p>According to a release, Azure Power will provide power for 25 years to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India facilities in the states and union territories of Delhi, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Assam.</p>
<p>The power will be sold at a tariff range of ₹3.19-4.11 (~$0.05-0.06) per kWh based on location. In addition, Azure Power qualifies for a capital incentive which is expected to result in a weighted average levelized tariff of ₹5.29 (~$0.08) per kWh.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://mercomindia.com/nvvn-extends-bid-submission-deadline-13-5-mw-grid-connected-rooftop-solar-resco-model/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NVVN</a> mandated that the modules used for the project should be manufactured in India. Rest of the components can be procured from any source. The size of each project will be in range of 1 kW to 500 kW. A single rooftop project can comprise of several rooftops units and may be separately connected to grid and have separate meters.</p>
<p>Azure Roof Power has 12 months from the date of issuance of letter of allocation (LoA) to commission the project.</p>
<p>With this capacity allocation, Azure Power has been awarded close to 98 MW of rooftop solar projects in 2017. In <a href="https://mercomindia.com/azure-power-wins-bids-develop-46-mw-rooftop-solar-indian-railways/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">March 2017</a>, Azure Power won bids to develop 46 MW of rooftop solar for the Indian Railways. The projects will be spread across 11 Indian states. In <a href="https://mercomindia.com/azure-power-develop-50-mw-rooftop-solar-electrify-government-buildings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">September 2017</a>, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) awarded a contract to develop 50 MW of rooftop solar to Azure Power. The projects will be spread across 10 Indian states and union territories.</p>
