<p>The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (<a href="https://mmrda.maharashtra.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MMRDA</a>) has floated a tender for 4.43 MW of rooftop solar projects at a station site of the Mumbai Metro Rail Project.</p>
<p>The scope of work includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, storage, civil work, erection, testing and commissioning of the rooftop solar project at Lines 7 and 2A of the Mumbai Metro Rail Project under the Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCO) model for 25 years. Bidders are also expected to operate and maintain the project in this period.</p>
<p>The RESCO model is a system where the solar project is owned by the developer, and the consumer only pays for the energy generated.</p>
<p>Interested bidders are expected to pay a tender security amount of ₹996,000 ($13,968). The last date for the submission of bids is March 26, 2020. The work is expected to be completed within 15 months from the date of issue of the letter of approval (LOA).</p>
<p>Previously, Mercom <a href="https://mercomindia.com/tender-7-63-mw-of-rooftop-solar-mumbai-metro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reported</a> that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority issued a tender for 7.63 MW of rooftop solar PV projects at the site of Mumbai Metro Rail project line 7 and 2A. The project was to be developed under the RESCO model.</p>
<p>Earlier, Mumbai Metro One, promoted by Reliance Infrastructure, <a href="https://mercomindia.com/mumbai-metro-rooftop-solar-commissioned/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">commissioned</a> a 612-kW rooftop solar power installation at its D.N. Nagar depot, located in Andheri West.</p>
<p>Over the past year, metro corporations in various states have come forward with their plans to reduce their carbon footprint by adopting renewable power to fuel their energy requirements.</p>
<p>For instance, a few weeks ago, <a href="https://mercomindia.com/uperc-noida-metro-install-rooftop-solar-net-metering/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mercom reported</a> that Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (<a href="http://www.uperc.org/Default2.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">UPERC</a>) allowed the Noida Metro Rail Corporation Limited (<a href="http://www.nmrcnoida.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">NMRC</a>) to install 10 MW of rooftop solar power projects with a net metering facility.</p>
<p>Just a few days ago, Chennai Metro Rail <a href="https://mercomindia.com/chennai-metro-buy-solar-wind-hybrid-power-group-captive-projects/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">issued a request for a proposal</a> to select contractors for supplying renewable power from group captive open access projects.</p>
<p>Last year, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (<a href="http://www.delhimetrorail.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">DMRC</a>) <a href="https://mercomindia.com/delhi-metro-power-waste-to-energy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">said that it had started utilizing power</a> from a 12 MW waste to energy project set up by the East Delhi Waste Processing Company Limited in Gazipur, Uttar Pradesh.</p>
