					</table><p><a href="https://www.tatamotors.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tata Motors</a> inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) with <a href="https://www.tatapower.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tata Power</a> to develop a 7.25 MW onsite solar project at its commercial vehicle manufacturing unit in Jamshedpur.</p>
<p>With the signing of the PPA for the deployment of the solar project, the overall solar capacity of the Indian automaker’s Jamshedpur facility will reach 14 MW.</p>
<p>The onsite solar project is expected to generate 442 million units (MU) of green electricity and potentially mitigate around 350,000 tons of carbon emissions yearly— equalling the plantation of 560,000 trees.</p>
<p>The Jamshedpur plant is the first Tata Motors manufacturing facility to be set up and has state-of-the-art manufacturing and assembly lines, which can roll out a medium or heavy truck every five minutes. The plant achieved World Class Quality Level III Certification in December 2017.</p>
<p>The plant is backed with innovative and global technology while it pioneered global trucking technology in India when the first commercial vehicle rolled out from the Jamshedpur plant through technological collaboration with Germany’s Daimler-Benz.</p>
<p>Being one of the signatories to the global initiative RE100, Tata Motors has committed to using 100% clean and green energy to run its operations and has significantly increased the proportion of renewable energy. The company is working towards procuring 100% renewable energy by the end of the current decade.</p>
<p>Commenting on the signing of the PPA, Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur Plant Head Vishal Badshah said, “It has been our continuous endeavor to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve the net zero emission goal. With this agreement, we are reaffirming our commitment to sustainability by increasing the share of renewable energy in our operations. We firmly believe this will strengthen our journey towards a cleaner and greener future.”</p>
<p>In May, Tata Power and Tata Motors joined hands to develop a 7 MW rooftop solar project at Tata Motors’ Passenger Vehicle Plant in Chikhali, Pune. This is the third phase of a joint 17 MW onsite solar project developed by the two companies, of which 10 MW is already operational.</p>
<p>In a recently held annual general meeting, Tata Power <a href="https://mercomindia.com/tata-power-to-invest-%e2%82%b9750-billion-in-renewables-in-the-next-five-years/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> plans to invest ₹750 billion (~$9.39 billion) in renewables in the next five years.</p>

Tata Motors Signs PPA with Tata Power to Develop 7.25 MW Onsite Solar Project

<p>The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (<a href="https://jnac.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">JNAC</a>) in Jharkhand has issued a tender to empanel agencies to set up grid-connected and off-grid solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects across various government institutions under its jurisdiction.</p>
<p>The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the projects, including five years comprehensive maintenance contract on a turnkey basis.</p>
<p>The last day to submit the bids online is January 15, 2022. Technical bids will be opened on February 18.</p>
<p>Bidders must submit ₹200,000 (~$2,692) as an earnest money deposit. Successful bidders must provide a contract performance guarantee of 5% of the project cost and 5% of the contract value as a security deposit. Micro, small, medium enterprises (MSME) must provide 2.5% as contract performance bank guarantee (PBG) and 1% as the security deposit.</p>
<p>The project should be completed within six months from the letter of award.</p>
<p>Bidders must have installed at least one grid-connected or off-grid solar PV project of a minimum of 10 kW capacity or must have a cumulative experience of installing 25% of the bid capacity in the last seven years. For bidders under the MSME category, the capacity is set at a minimum of 5 kW and a cumulative experience of installing 10% of the bid capacity.</p>
<p>Bidders must have an annual turnover of 25% of the bid capacity in the last three financial years. For MSME bidders, the turnover is set at 10% of the project cost.</p>
<p>Bidders must have a net worth of a minimum of 10% of the bid capacity. For MSME bidders, the net worth is set at 5% of the project cost.</p>
<p>The financial competence of the bidders will be evaluated based on an average annual turnover of ₹2.5 million (~$33,647)/100 kW for general bidders and ₹1 million (~$13,458)/100 kW for MSME bidders from the last three years. General bidders must have a net worth of ₹1 million (~$13,458)/100 kW and MSME bidders ₹500,000 (~$6,729)/100 kW.</p>
<p>Successful bidders should provide a warranty of 25 years for modules and five years for batteries from the date of supply against any manufacturing defect. The peak watt capacity of the solar modules should not be less than 90% at the end of 10 years and 80% at the end of 25 years.</p>
<p>If the outage of the project exceeds 30 days, the 50% PBG amount will be encashed. If the outage exceeds 60 days, the entire PBG will be encashed.</p>
<p>Earlier, the Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/jharkhand-empanel-agencies-residential-rooftop-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> a tender to empanel agencies to develop 25 MW of residential rooftop solar systems under the capital expenditure (CAPEX) model.</p>
