<p><a href="https://www.hslvizag.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Hindustan Shipyard Limited</a> (HSL) is planning to increase its rooftop solar capacity by adding 1 MW installation at its premises in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This project will be installed under the RESCO model and will be executed by CleanMax Solar.</p>
<p>In September 2018, the company had installed a rooftop solar project with a capacity of 2 MW.</p>
<p>Now, with the total rooftop solar capacity of 3 MW, it will be the largest rooftop solar power project in Andhra Pradesh, according to the company.</p>
<p>A total number of 9,260 solar PV modules will be required for this project, informed an official from HSL.  The project will cover a total of eight roofs.</p>
<p>“The expected annual generation from the solar project is 4.2 million units/year, and the total annual consumption of electricity by HSL is around 7 million units/ year. This implies that the expected percentage share of solar energy per annum after the completion of the project will be 60%,” said the company spokesperson.</p>
<p>According to the company, the savings per unit will be ₹2.2 (~$0.031)/kWh, and the expected annual savings will be ₹10-12 million (~$139,147-166,976)/year. The solar tariff under the PPA is set at ₹3.939 ($0.05)/kWh.</p>
<p>The official told Mercom that the energy generated from the rooftop solar PV project would be 30% cheaper compared to the power purchased from the utility and the carbon emissions will be reduced by 3,400 tons per year.</p>
<p>Recently, the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (<a href="http://nredcap.in/Default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">NREDCAP</a>) also tendered 15 MW of <a href="https://mercomindia.com/andhra-floats-resco-tender-rooftop-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">grid-connected rooftop solar</a> photovoltaic (PV) projects to be set up atop government buildings across the state. The grid-connected rooftop solar projects will also be developed under the RESCO model.</p>
