<p>Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) commissioned a 30 MW grid-connected solar PV project developed under India’s domestic content requirement (DCR) category at Palaswade village in Maan taluka, in the Satara district of Maharashtra. The project has been developed under the viability gap funding (VGF) program.</p>
<p>The 30 MW grid-connected solar PV project is spread over 140 acres and will produce over 62 million kWh of solar power annually, covering the annual energy needs of over 14,000 households, according to the company.</p>
<p>According to <a href="https://mercomindia.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mercom India Research</a>, the 30 MW grid-connected solar PV project was complete by September 30, 2017.</p>
<p>Speaking on the project commissioning, Mr. Rahul Shah, CEO of TPREL, said, &#8220;We aim to create a focused renewable energy business in TPREL with a sustained growth trajectory. The commissioning of the 30 MW solar power project at Palaswade marks a milestone in our drive to grow our portfolio of clean and renewable energy generation. We would like to thank the Government of Maharashtra, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, Maharashtra Energy Development Authority, the local community, and authorities and all our stakeholders for the support extended to set up this solar power project at Palaswade. We are proud of our staff for proactively caring for the community through the construction of check dams to harvest, use, and make rainwater available to the community.&#8221;</p>
<p>According to Mercom’s <em><a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/india-solar-project-tracker/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">India Solar Project Tracker</a></em>, the 30 MW DCR solar PV project was tendered under the National Solar Mission (NSM) Phase-II Batch-III by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for Maharashtra. TPREL quoted a VGF of ₹6.5 million (~$100,157)/MW along with a fixed tariff of ₹4.43 (~$0.068)/kWh to win the auction to develop this project.</p>
<p>Per Mercom’s <em><a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/india-solar-project-tracker/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">India Solar Project Tracker</a></em>, TPREL’s solar portfolio consists of 1,072 MW of installed utility scale projects and 273 MW of utility scale projects under development.</p>
