<p>In India’s first ever EV tender, the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) announced procurement tender of 10,000 electric vehicles (EVs) to be used by government departments and agencies. The bid-submission deadline is September 18, 2017.</p>
<p>The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, testing, inspection, supply, system warranty and delivery. The successful bidder will also provide annual maintenance of the EVs for a five-year period or up to 2,00,000 km.</p>
<p>The vehicles are to be procured in two phases. In Phase I, 1,000 EVs will be procured for utilization in New Delhi and national capital region with service and maintenance facilities to be constructed in the national capital region. In Phase II, 9,000 EVs will be procured for utilization across India. Service and maintenance facilities for these vehicles will be developed at various locations selected by EESL.</p>
<p>Electric Vehicle suppliers globally can participate in this tender. The lowest bidder will be awarded 50 percent of the tendered capacity, the second lowest bidder will be awarded 30 percent, and the third lowest will win 20 percent.</p>
<p>India is targeting the deployment of five to seven million electric vehicles in the country by 2020 under the <a href="https://mercomindia.com/india-plans-deploy-seven-million-electric-vehicles-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020</a>.</p>
<p>Mercom <a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-develop-20-electric-vehicle-charging-stations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously reported</a> that after setting up two EV charging stations at its offices in Noida and Delhi, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will be developing 20 EV charging stations at different locations in India.</p>
