The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has expanded the Approved List of Module Manufacturers (ALMM) capacity by adding 8,067 MW of solar module manufacturing capacity.

Asote Solutions (Ananya Solar), MKU Holdings, and Axitec Energy India, contributing 152 MW, 1,183 MW, and 18 MW, respectively, are the new additions to the list, taking the total number of module manufacturers to 95.

In the latest ALMM update, 1,020 MW solar module manufacturing capacity was removed, with nine companies deleted from the list.

The cumulative ALMM capacity increased by 10.48% to 74,235 MW from 67,188 MW in February 2025.

The rise was primarily attributed to the cumulative 6,714 MW added by eight enlisted companies.

New enlisted capacity came from Ganesh Green Bharat (Ganesh Electricals), adding 448 MW, Goldi Sun (Goldi Solar), adding 2,942 MW, Grew Energy, adding 1,624 MW, HR Solar Solution, adding 13 MW, Navitas Solar (Navitas Green Solutions) adding 1,100 MW, SAEL Solar Manufacturing adding 67 MW, SAEL Solar P6 adding 309 MW, and Sunbond Energy adding 211 MW.

ECE (India) Energies and Insolation Green Energy were included in the provisional ALMM list, with applied capacities of 40 MW and 800 MW, respectively.

The provisional ALMM enlistment is granted within seven days of BIS certification. A two-month limit is provided for factory inspection and final enlistment; failing this, the provisional enlistment will be deemed the final enlistment.

In the last ALMM update issued in February, MNRE added 114 MW, with Easy Photovoltech and Akshaya Solar Power (India) contributing 81 MW and 33 MW of capacity, respectively.

The introduction of ALMM has contributed to the growth of domestic solar module capacity in recent years. Certain government projects mandate the use of modules included in ALMM.

Solar cells will also come under the ambit of ALMM from June 1, 2026. The ministry introduced the ALMM List-II for solar cells in December.

According to Mercom’s State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 1H 2024 Report, India added 11.3 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity and 2 GW of cell manufacturing capacity in the first half of 2024. The manufacturing capacity additions in 1H 2024 were primarily driven by strong demand, with solar project pipelines totaling 132.7 GW between 2024 and 2026.
