REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL) has issued a request for proposal (RfP) to set up an intrastate transmission system to evacuate power from a 2,000 MW solar park at  Ryapte, in Karnataka’s Tumkur district.

Bids must be submitted by April 6, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹209.3 million (~$2.27 million) and a document fee of ₹500,000 (~$5,423.09).

Selected bidders must submit a contract performance guarantee of ₹523.3 million (~$5.67 million).

The scope of work entails the design, engineering, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of five 500 MVA, 400/220 kV substations with two 125 MVAr, 400 kV bus reactors; five 400.200 kV interconnecting transformers of 500 MVA capacity each; and associated 400 kV and 220 kV bays. It also involves providing operation and maintenance services.

Selected bidders must conduct site surveys, select the project location, prepare detailed project reports, arrange project financing, and undertake project management. They must obtain the consents, clearances, and permits for the transmission project.

Successful bidders must provide land compensation and supply the transmission project’s materials and equipment.

The generation pooling, load serving, and intermediate substations must be within 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km from the project location, respectively.

Selected bidders will take over Ryapte Power Transmission. After the acquisition, they must obtain approval from the state government to develop the transmission project. They must obtain a transmission license from the state electricity regulatory commission.

The transmission project must be commissioned within 30 months. Delays will attract liquidated damages. Non-compliance with project requirements can result in performance guarantee encashment.

Bidders must have developed projects in the infrastructure sector with a minimum aggregate capital expenditure of ₹10.47 billion (~$113.51 million) in the last five years. The capital expenditure of each project must be at least ₹2.09 billion (~$22.7 million).

Alternatively, bidders must have received minimum aggregate payments of ₹10.47 billion (~$113.52 million) for completing projects in the infrastructure segment in the last five years. Payment for each project must have been at least ₹2.09 billion (~$22.7 million).

Bidders must have had a minimum net worth of ₹4.2 billion (~$45.41 million) in the last three financial years.

This February, RECPDCL invited bids to set up an interstate transmission system (ISTS) to evacuate power from 5 GW of green hydrogen/ammonia projects in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

In January, RECPDCL invited bids to set up an ISTS to evacuate 6 GW of solar power from the Barmer-II pooling substation in Rajasthan.
