Powerica And Adyant Enersol Win SECI’s 500 MW Wind Power Auction
SECI awarded 4 MW over the eligible capacity of 96 MW
October 28, 2024
Powerica and Adyant Enersol (a subsidiary of Datta Infra) have won Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to develop 500 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind power projects (Tranche-XVII).
The tender was floated in May 2024.
Powerica was awarded 50 MW at a tariff of ₹3.81(~$0.0450)/kWh on October 28, 2024. Adyant Enersol was awarded 50 MW at a tariff of ₹3.82(~$0.0451)/kWh on November 19, 2024.
The total capacity eligible for the award was reduced to 96 MW as per a provision that if the bids received in the auction were less than the floated capacity of 500 MW, then only 80% (96 MW) of that quoted capacity would be awarded.
In the technical bid round, Powerica and Adyant Enersol bid for 50 and 70 MW respectively.
Adyant Enersol had quoted a tariff of ₹3.82(~$0.0451)/kWh for a capacity of 70 MW but was only eligible for 46 MW (96 MW – 50 MW). Initially, Adyant was not awarded any capacity as the tender mandated a minimum project capacity of 50 MW. However, SECI awarded an additional 4 MW over the eligible capacity and awarded 50 MW to Adyant Enersol.
The tender had specified that the successful bidder must establish the wind power projects, along with the necessary transmission network up to the interconnection/delivery point.
The wind power developer must identify land, install and own the project, and secure connectivity and approvals.
Only commercially established and operational technologies must be deployed to minimize technology risk and ensure the timely start of power supply from the projects.
The tender also mandated that only type-certified wind turbine models listed in the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers would be permitted for deployment.
In October 2024, Juniper Green Energy, ACME Solar Holdings, and Sembcorp Green Infra won SECI’s auction to develop 600 MW ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects (Tranche IX).
In July 2024, JSW Neo Energy (JSW Energy), Powerica, and Torrent Power were declared winners in SECI’s auction to establish 1.35 GW ISTS-connected wind power projects with a 700 MW greenshoe option (Tranche-XVI).
