NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) has issued a request for selection to set up 500 MW/1,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Rajasthan under a build, own, and operate model.
Bids must be submitted by March 31, 2025. Bids will be opened on April 1.
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹682,000 (~$7,803.8)/MW. They must also submit a tender document fee of ₹22,500 (~$257.46) and a document processing fee of ₹1.5 million (~$17,164.1).
Selected bidders must furnish a performance bank guarantee of ₹1.7 million (~$19,453).
Successful bidders will be eligible for viability gap funding support, earmarked for a cumulative BESS capacity of 2,000 MWh. It will be awarded through several tranches.
The VGF amount applicable for each selected bidder towards setting up the BESS will be limited to ₹2.7 million (~$31,142.12)/MWh or 30% of the awarded project capacity’s capital cost, whichever is lower.
The project’s scope of work entails setting up the BESS and its interconnection with the state transmission utilities network. It also includes constructing the substation bay.
Successful bidders must make the BESS available to NVVN for charging or discharging the storage system on an “on demand” basis. They must also obtain all approvals, permits, and clearances necessary for setting up the project and its dedicated transmission network up to the delivery point (including connectivity).
Bidders must have a minimum net worth of $6.8 million (-$78,030)/MW of the quoted capacity. They must also have an annual turnover of ₹227,000 (~$2,597.35)/MW of the quoted capacity.
Recently, NVVN issued a request for selection for developers to set up an interstate transmission system-connected 250 MW/1,000 MWh standalone BESS under the build-own-operate model. The scope of work entailed setting up the BESS, its charging power with single cycles charging/discharging operation, and the project’s interconnection with the interstate-transmission system.
Earlier this month, Solarium Green Energy won a contract from NVVN to install 6,929 kW grid-connected rooftop solar projects at various locations of central armed forces and departments under the Ministry of Home Affairs in Uttar Pradesh (Zone 4). The scope of work included design, engineering, supply, civil construction, erection, testing, commissioning, and grid interfacing within 240 days from the date of notice of award.
