NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has issued a request for proposal to set up green ammonia and green methanol projects at the Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub in Andhra Pradesh.
The ammonia and methanol projects will be assessed under Parcel A and Parcel M, respectively. Each parcel will receive up to 30 acres for project development.
Bidders can submit proposals for a single parcel or for both parcels in separate applications. Those ranking first for both parcels will be awarded only one.
Bids must be submitted by March 11, 2026. Bids will be opened on March 12.
Bidders must furnish a bid security of ₹10 million (~$110,000).
The scope of work entails the setting up of all project facilities, including the processing plant, internal distribution system, in-plant utilities, and safety systems. It also involves providing operation and maintenance services.
Successful bidders must arrange the statutory compliance and clearances for the projects.
Selected bidders must secure offtake agreements for the projects. NGEL will award scoring credit to bidders that demonstrate a letter of intent or memorandum of understanding for a minimum of 50 kilotons per annum of offtake of either the green ammonia or the green methanol.
They must also coordinate with NGEL and other hub occupants for integrated hub operations.
The scope of work includes signing definitive agreements to source land and civil infrastructure, renewable energy, grid connectivity at the hub, CO2 and N2 supply, port interface and storage facilities, and water supply from NGEL.
Last August, NTPC Renewable Energy won Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to supply 70,000 tons per annum of green ammonia under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program (Mode-2A-Tranche-I).
The Union Cabinet last year approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission with a budget of ₹197.4 billion (~$2.3 billion) up to the financial year 2029-30. A key initiative under this mission was the SIGHT program, which has an allocation of ₹174.9 billion (~$2.01 billion).
