NTPC Renewable Energy (NREL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), has announced the commercial operation of 180 MW of solar capacity across two renewable energy projects.

The company stated that the third and final tranche of 75 MW out of the total 500 MW Bhadla solar project, located in Phalodi, Rajasthan, has achieved commercial operation with effect from March 25, 2026. With this, the entire 500 MW capacity at the Bhadla project has commercial operation.

NGEL had commissioned 300 MW of the total 500 MW capacity at Bhadla.

NTPC also declared the commercial operation of the fifth part of the 105 MW capacity from the 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar Project in Gujarat.

With these developments, NTPC Group’s total installed capacity has increased to 88,889 MW, while its total commercial capacity stands at 87,809 MW.

Recently, the company commissioned the third part of the 1.2 GW Khavda-II solar project in Gujarat. In February, it commissioned 165 MW capacity at the same project.

NREL is developing two large-scale solar parks. A 4.75 GW solar park is being developed at Khavda, and a 630 MW solar park at Barethi, Madhya Pradesh. These projects will contribute significantly to the company’s renewable energy portfolio.

The company is also executing 356 MW/2,136 MWh battery storage projects, while an additional 6.35 GW/31.9 GWh of storage capacity is in the tendering phase.

NTPC Green Energy’s revenue rose 29.3% to ₹6.53 billion (~$71 million) in the third quarter of the financial year (FY) 2026, from ₹5.05 billion (~$54.9 million) a year ago.

The company has 34 commissioned projects and 38 more under execution. Its renewable energy installed capacity stands at 3.6 GW. The company is executing renewable and hydro projects with a combined capacity exceeding 11 GW, while an additional 20 GW of projects are in various stages of tendering.

Last December, NGEL commissioned 243.66 MW of the 1.25 GW Khavda-I Solar Project in Gujarat.
