NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has invited expressions of interest (EoI) on behalf of NTPC UP Green Energy (NUGEL) to procure renewable energy from its upcoming 100 MW solar project with 50 MW/200 MWh of battery storage in Uttar Pradesh.
NUGEL is a joint venture between NGEL and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, established to develop 2 GW of solar projects in the state. NUGEL will also help NTPC in achieving its target of 60 GW by FY 2032.
The last date to submit bids is April 23, 2026. Bids will be opened on April 24, 2026.
Bidders must be industries, commercial establishments, distribution companies in Uttar Pradesh, institutional buyers, and power aggregators with a minimum procurement requirement of 5 MW. Bidders can also be smaller industries/establishments clubbed together with an aggregate demand of at least 5 MW.
Successful bidders can procure power during solar hours and draw on the storage project’s peak power supply during non-solar hours. The project will be connected to the state transmission utility’s transmission system at the nearest Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation’s substation.
Recently, NGEL has invited bids to set up a 100 MW solar project with 200 MWh battery storage at Jhansi. According to the tender, the battery storage project must be designed to maintain a minimum dispatchable capacity of 92% over 15 years.
In January 2026, NTPC Renewable Energy invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 250 MW solar project with a 50 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh.
In the same month, NGEL invited bids for the EPC of a 6 MW floating solar project with a 6 MW/24 MWh battery energy storage system at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Thermal Power Station under the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company.
As of Q3 FY 2026, NGEL has 34 commissioned projects and 38 more under execution. Its renewable energy installed capacity stands at 3.6 GW. The company is executing renewable and hydro projects with a combined capacity exceeding 11 GW, while an additional 20 GW of projects are in various stages of tendering.
