NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has commissioned 150 MW capacity at its 300 MW solar project in Rajasthan, owned by Project Sixteen Renewable Power, a subsidiary of its joint venture, ONGC NTPC Green.

The commercial operation will start on April 18, 2026.

With this addition, the total commercial capacity of the NTPC Green Energy stands at 10.13 GW, while the overall installed capacity will increase to 10.28 GW.

NGEL currently has 37 commissioned projects and 42 more under execution. It has nearly 11.35 GW of renewable energy projects under construction.

NTPC Green Energy was among the top utility-scale solar project developers in 2025, according to Mercom’s India Solar Market Leaderboard 2026. The company commissioned more than 2 GW of solar capacity, primarily through the acquisition of near-commissioning and recently commissioned projects. NTPC Green Energy is targeting 60 GW of renewable capacity by the financial year 2032 and is actively bidding for projects and developing Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Parks.

India’s utility-scale solar market saw a record-breaking year, with 29.5 GW of capacity additions, up nearly 31% from 22.5 GW in 2024.

In January this year, NGEL commissioned 300 MW of the total 500 MW capacity at the Bhadla solar project in Phalodi, Rajasthan.

Last December last year, NGEL announced the commercial operation of 69.04 MW at the Khavda-I Solar Project in Gujarat. The capacity represented the eighth instalment of the 1.26 GW project being developed under the Phase-II Tranche-III of the Central Public Sector Undertaking program.

Earlier, the company issued unsecured non-convertible debentures of ₹15 billion (~$169.47 million) through private placement at a coupon of 7.01% per annum for a 10-year and one-day tenor, maturing on November 12, 2035.
