Juniper Green Energy, JSW Neo Energy (JSW Energy), TEQ Green Power (O2 Power), Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra), and Avaada Energy were declared winners in  NTPC’s auction for the supply of 1,000 MW power from inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects anywhere in India under Tranche VI.

Juniper Green Energy secured 150 MW with the lowest tariff of ₹3.43 ($0.0412)/kWh, while JSW Neo Energy, TEQ Green, and Adyant Enersol secured 300 MW, 250 MW, and 70 MW, respectively, at ₹3.45 ($0.0415)/kWh. Avaada Energy clinched 230 MW at ₹3.46 ($0.0416)/kWh.

NTPC Auction

The tender was floated in March 2024. It had mandated that either wind or solar resources constitute at least 33% of the total contracted capacity.

NTPC will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement with the selected bidders. Projects already under construction or not yet commissioned with no long-term power purchase agreements can also be considered.

The option to include energy storage systems (ESS) is left to the bidder, but the ESS must be charged using wind-solar hybrid power to qualify. Only wind turbines from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Revised List of Models and Manufacturers will be permitted under the tender.

Similarly, the solar photovoltaic modules must be listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

Recently, NTPC invited bids for a 20 MW ground-mounted solar project in the MGR Bulb area of NTPC Vindhyachal in Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier, NTPC Renewable Energy, an NTPC subsidiary, had issued a tender for an engineering, procurement, and construction package to develop solar projects of a cumulative capacity of 795 MW (2×275 MW + 1×245 MW) at Khavda RE Power Park, Rann of Kutch, in Gujarat.
