NHPC, SJVN Green Energy, and NTPC Renewable Energy won the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam’s (GUVNL) auction to supply power from 600 MW of grid-connected solar power projects (Phase XVII) at the Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat.

The developers can avail of a greenshoe option of an additional 600 MW.

NHPC won 200 MW by quoting ₹2.73 (~$0.033)/kWh. SJVN Green Energy won 200 MW at ₹2.88 (~$0.035))/kWh.

NTPC Renewable Energy won 200 MW out of the quoted capacity of 400 MW under the bucket-filling method by quoting ₹2.89 (~$0.035)/kWh.

The tender was floated in September last year.

GUVNL will enter into a PPA with successful bidders for 25 years from the scheduled commercial operation date of the project.

Only commercially established and operational technologies can be used for the projects to minimize the technology risk and to achieve the timely commissioning of the projects.

The project should be designed to deliver energy at the 400/765 kV substation of the central transmission utility (CTU) at Khavda, i.e., at the CTU periphery through the 33/400 KV internal pooling substation of the solar park to be developed by the developer.

The successful bidder will pay all expenses, including transmission and wheeling charges and losses between the project and the delivery point, without any reimbursement by GUVNL.

All expenses, including wheeling charges and losses concerning the transmission and distribution beyond the delivery point, will be borne by GUVNL.

The declared annual capacity utilization factor should not be less than 17%.

The solar modules to be used in the solar projects must be warranted for peak output wattage, which should be at least 90% at the end of ten years and 80% at the end of 25 years from the commercial operation date of the project.

In April, ReNew, Solarcraft, Mahindra Susten, and Avaada Energy recently won GUVNL’s auction to supply power from 500 MW of grid-connected solar projects (Phase XIX).

ReNew Solar Power won 200 MW by quoting ₹2.71 (~$0.0333)/kWh. Avaada Energy won 140 MW at ₹2.75 (~$0.0335)/kWh out of the quoted capacity of 500 MW under the bucket-filling method. Mahindra Susten and Solarcraft Power won 100 MW and 60 MW, respectively, at the tariff of ₹2.74 (~$0.0334)/kWh.

According to Mercom’s India Solar Tender Tracker, GUVNL has so far floated tenders for 11.5 GW of solar projects and auctioned 7 GW of solar power projects.
