NHPC Subsidiary Invites Bids to Enlist PM Surya Ghar Channel Partners

NHPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of NHPC, has invited bids to select channel partners to install grid-connected rooftop solar systems under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojna in Sikkim, Nagaland, and Manipur.
The contract period will be until March 31, 2027.
The last day to submit the bids is November 30, 2024. Bids will be opened on December 5.
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹2 million (~$23,786).
Bidders can qualify through one of the following routes:
Route 1
- EPC contractor: Must have installed or supervised installing and commissioning grid-connected solar projects with a minimum cumulative capacity of 1 MW in the previous financial year.
- Solar module manufacturer: Must be included in the latest Approved List of Models and Manufacturers issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
- Solar module distributor/dealer: Must have supplied at least 2 MW of solar modules in the previous financial year.
- Module mounting structure distributor/supplier: Must have supplied module mounting structures for solar projects with a cumulative capacity of at least 2 MW in the previous financial year.
Route 2
- Be a distributor/dealer for consumer durables or switchgear/control gear components, with offices or warehouses in multiple districts and agreements with at least five vendors, each having installed a minimum cumulative capacity of 400 kW in rooftop solar systems since April 1, 2021.
- Submit a valid dealer/distributor certificate from the manufacturer of consumer durables or switchgear/control gear components.
- Provide proof of ownership, rental, lease, or license for the offices or warehouse facilities.
Bidders must have an average annual turnover of at least ₹30 million (~$356,812) in the preceding three years.
Their net worth should be positive on the closing day of any three out of the last five financial years.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy recently announced that it is enhancing the number of rooftop solar vendors under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana from 8,000 to 25,000.
The ministry also introduced provisions for including brand owners and channel partners in vendor registration to accelerate rooftop solar installations. Brand owners and entities must submit a request to REC Limited. Similarly, vendors can request to be identified as the owner’s channel partner on the national portal. A channel partner can work under multiple brand owners.
