MAHAGENCO NTPC Green Energy (MNGEPL), a joint venture company of MAHAGENCO and NTPC Green Energy, has issued an expression of interest to procure 10,000 acres of land for the development of solar and renewable energy projects across Maharashtra.
Bids must be submitted by April 13, 2026. Bids will be opened on April 15.
Proposals can be submitted by private landowners, farmer-producer organizations, sole proprietors, partnerships, LLPs, consortiums, companies, cooperative societies, registered NGOs, trusts, government agencies, PSUs, and land aggregators willing to offer land for outright sale.
The minimum requirement is 1,000 acres in a single contiguous location, with preference given to larger land parcels capable of supporting higher project capacities at a single site.
The land offered must be completely fenced at the time of handover. Bidders must submit separate cost components for the land and fencing. MNGEPL has specified that the land should have a clear and marketable title, free from encumbrances, litigation, liens, or acquisition claims, and must not be earmarked for any other purpose.
The land must also be free of encroachments and vegetation, including shrubs and trees, and should have an identified motorable approach road without ownership disputes.
Bidders must obtain all statutory approvals and clearances, including environmental, forest, mining, airport, and non-agricultural use permissions, from the competent authorities.
Successful bidders must submit landowners’ consent within 15 days, along with land records. The acquisition process will be undertaken through the Collector’s office.
The evaluation process will follow a scoring-based methodology with a total of 200 points, considering factors such as land cost, size, percentage of usable land, distance from substations or existing transmission lines, evacuation capacity, and global horizontal irradiance.
Land that includes forest areas, wildlife zones, or government restrictions on renewable energy development will be excluded.
Recently, MAHAGENCO invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction of 300 MW solar projects across Maharashtra (Phase-II).
Earlier this year, NTPC Green issued a tender for the supply of 2.38 MW of solar modules for its projects in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The procurement involves the supply of 7,000 crystalline silicon solar PV modules, each with a rated capacity of 340 Wp.
