Surat-based renewable solutions provider, KPI Green Energy, has commenced power generation and supply from its 200 MW grid-connected solar power project at the 1.8 GW Gujarat State Electricity Corporation’s (GSECL) Solar Park (South Block) in Khavda.
The project was awarded by the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL).
In another development, NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, announced that the first 210 MW of the 1.2 GW Khavda-II Solar PV Project has begun operations.
KPI Green Commissions 200 MW
KPI Green’s 200 MW project was secured through a competitive bidding process and is being implemented under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), with GUVNL as the offtaker.
The project has achieved grid synchronization, and initial power injection into Gujarat’s state grid has begun.
This is among the first solar projects to be commissioned in the 1.8 GW GSECL Solar Park (South Block) at Khavda.
To enhance operational efficiency and reliability, KPI Green has integrated advanced technologies across the project. These include an IoT-enabled robotic cleaning system delivering about 98% cleaning efficiency while significantly reducing water consumption, a centralized Network Operations Center for real-time monitoring and control, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems for data collection and synchronization.
KPI Green’s project is expected to generate about 4.73 kWh of power annually, and supply green electricity to nearly 130,000 households.
Earlier, KPI Green Energy had received a work order from GSECL for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 110 MW floating solar project at the Kadana Dam reservoir in Mahisagar, Gujarat.
NTPC Renewable Energy Commissions 210 MW
Meanwhile, NTPC Renewable Energy announced that the first 210 MW of its 1.2 GW solar project at Khavda has been commissioned.
NTPC Green Energy’s current commercial capacity is 8.48 GW. With the latest addition, its total installed capacity will increase to 8.68 GW.
Last month, NTPC Green Energy commissioned 300 MW of the 500 MW total capacity at the Bhadla solar project in Phalodi, Rajasthan. The commercial operation of the commissioned capacity commenced on January 13, 2026.
