GUVNLs 500 MW (Revised to 200 MW) Wind Power Projects (Phase-VIII) - Auction Result

The project’s scope covers setting up the wind power projects and connecting the transmission network with the central /state transmission utility network.

Developers must secure all the approvals, permits, and clearances from the governments and local bodies concerned to set up the projects and their connectivity.

GUVNL will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful bidders from the project’s scheduled commencement of supply.

Projects that are under construction, not yet commissioned, and those that are commissioned but do not have a long-term PPA with an agency and selling power on a short-term or merchant plant basis will be considered if they are not accepted under any other central or state programs and do not have any obligations towards existing buyers.

The projects must use only wind turbine models from the MNRE‘s Revised List of Models and Manufacturers of wind turbines.

Alfanar Projects, Juniper Green Energy, and RIH Renewables were the winners in GUVNL’s Phase VI auction to set up 500 MW of grid-connected wind power projects.

In January 2024, GUVNL invited bids to purchase power from 300 MW of grid-connected wind projects (Phase VII) with an additional 300 MW greenshoe option.

The Ministry of Power plans to amend its tariff-based competitive bidding process guidelines to procure power renewable power projects including wind projects. Stakeholders can submit their comments by November 9, 2024.
