The Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) is expected to tender 15 MW of rooftop solar soon.

“We have submitted proposal to management and are awaiting approval, once approved IOCL will tender 15 MW of rooftop solar,” stated an IOCL official. The official also confirmed that the IOCL has commissioned 6.5 MW of rooftop solar as requested by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

When asked whether the expansion in capacity is being done keeping in mind profits through sale of power, the official stated: “we are thinking on those lines, but rates for rooftop solar energy are so low that it’s very early to comment on that.”

The IOCL had recently tendered a 3 MW ground mounted solar PV project to be constructed at Indian Oil Kadapa Bottling Plant premises located in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh.
