Mumbai-based Greenie Energy, a start-up specializing in electric vehicles (EV) charging technology, has raised $600,000 in a seed funding round from a group of investors led by Rajesh Advani, Managing Director of Sun-N-Sand Hotels.

The round included contributions from AIC Pinnacle Entrepreneurship Forum, Ashwin Ramesh (Co-Founder, Primary Advisors), and Rajaram Ajgaonkar (R M Ajgaonkar and Associates, Chartered Accountants).

The funds will support Greenie Energy’s aim to install over 5,000 EV charging points by the end of 2025. It also aims to accelerate the development of scalable, cost-effective charging solutions tailored to India’s rapidly expanding EV market.

The company’s flagship product is a hardware solution that transforms a standard electrical socket into a smart EV charging point. These charging points can be monitored and controlled through the Greenie Energy mobile application, ensuring user convenience and ease of operation.

Greenie Energy has established over 550 EV charging stations in more than 120 locations across six cities. The installations have been carried out in collaboration with housing societies, real estate developers, and hotel chains. The company is also targeting diverse settings such as residential complexes, commercial establishments, and public parking areas to ensure wide-scale deployment.

In October, Convergence Energy Services floated a tender to establish charging stations in Faridabad, by installing DC fast chargers at a minimum 50 KW capacity. In September, the Ministry of Power released guidelines for installing and operating electric vehicle chargers. Setting up and operating EV charging stations has been made a de-licensed activity.

Earlier this year, the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission said EV users will have to get approvals from distribution licensees to install EV chargers in non-designated areas. The Commission has developed standard operating guidelines for all EV users due to the confusion and inconsistency within the residential EV charging space.
