Enerture Technologies, a New Delhi-headquartered solar project developer, has won the project management consultancy contract for the implementation of a 110 MW solar project in group captive mode for Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (KMF).

The tender for the implementation of the project was issued in February this year.

Enerture will be responsible for implementing the project and selecting the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor.

The company will also help finalize the power purchase agreement and the shareholding agreement between the developer and KMF.

The consultancy firm will also help identify and study the project’s location based on the distance from the nearest grid.

The total scope of work includes the design, finance, installation, and commissioning of the project, along with operation and maintenance for 25 years.

KMF will procure 80% of the contracted capacity from the power project set up by a special purpose vehicle annually for 25 years.

The federation expects to save 30-35% on its electricity bills by implementing the solar project.

Once finalized, the project cost and the tariff must reflect the requisite capacity to meet the requirement of 132.22 million units (MU) of power for 25 years.

KMF had suggested that the project capacity may vary from 110 MW, and the final EPC award would depend on the acceptability of the tariff by the member unions and the expected savings from the group captive open-access solar power project.

It has also stated the possibility of the project size going up to 115 MW or 185 MUs if it were to include bulk milk chilling units.

The EPC contractors who will be shortlisted for the project should have designed, developed, and installed solar projects of cumulative value not less than 80-100 MW.

KMF also noted that preference would be given to bidders with experience establishing a project in Karnataka.

In September last year, KMF issued a request for proposal for project management consultancy services to assist the federation in setting up an approximately 100 MW group captive open access solar power project.
