Rooftop installers expect PM Surya Ghar 2.0 to provide for integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS) with rooftop solar systems. Integrating battery energy storage with rooftop solar systems could improve residential power consumption and reduce reliance on the grid during non-solar hours, but it is expected to increase upfront costs and extend the payback period.

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission dismissed a steel manufacturer’s petition seeking priority adjustment of electricity from its captive renewable energy source over power procured from non-captive renewable energy generators.

Gujarat Energy issued an engineering, procurement, and construction tender to set up a 10 MW grid-connected solar project in Gujarat for captive consumption. Bids must be submitted by September 28, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

The West Bengal Power Development Corporation invited bids to select a consultancy firm to conduct a feasibility study and prepare a detailed project report for a BESS at the Kolaghat Thermal Power Station in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal. The last date to submit bids is September 23, 2026. Bids will be opened on September 25.

Suzlon Energy bagged an order for the supply of 64 wind turbine generators for a 200 MW wind energy project in Limbawas, Madhya Pradesh, from independent power producer Ayana Renewable Power.

Solarworld Energy Solutions and Rays Power Infra will set up a joint venture company to establish a 2.4 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh.

Germany-based solar project developer and independent power producer ENERPARC filed a petition with the Hamburg Local Court to open insolvency proceedings. The company said its solar power operations will continue during the proceedings.

The Niger State Government floated an international tender to construct and install a 100 MW solar project in the Maikunkele region and Bosso local government area.
