Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) invited expressions of interest (EoI) to develop 4,300 MW pumped storage projects in Himachal Pradesh. The last date to submit bids is January 27, 2026. The EoI is being floated for the development of a 2,800 MW PSP in the Pong reservoir and a 1,500 MW PSP in the Bhakra reservoir.

Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology (MAHAPREIT) issued a request for selection to develop a 100 MW grid-connected floating solar project at Tansa Dam and/or Modak Sagar Dam in Maharashtra. Bids must be submitted by February 12, 2026. Bids will be opened on February 16.

Power Grid Corporation of India floated two tenders for engineering, procurement, and construction of standalone battery energy storage systems of 187.5 MW/750 MWh each at two of Transmission Corporation of Telangana’s Maheswaram and Choutuppal substations in Telangana. The last date to submit bids is January 21, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

NHPC, on behalf of Bundelkhand Saur Urja, floated bids to develop power evacuation infrastructure for the 1.2 GW Jalaun Solar Park in Uttar Pradesh. Bundelkhand Saur Urja is a joint venture created between NHPC and the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency to develop the solar park. The last date to submit bids is February 16, 2026, and bids will be opened on February 20, 2026.

NTPC Green Energy issued a tender for the supply of 2.38 MW of solar modules for its projects in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The procurement involves the supply of 7,000 crystalline silicon solar modules, each with a rated capacity of 340 Wp. Bids must be submitted by January 27, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Bokaro Power Supply Company invited bids for the operation and maintenance of 2 MW of rooftop solar projects across various buildings inside and outside the Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand. The last date to submit bids is February 9, 2026. Bids will be opened on February 10. Micro, small, and medium enterprises/public sector undertakings/government undertakings, and co-operative societies will be exempted from the requirement to submit an earnest money deposit.

Raana Semiconductors, an Indian semiconductor solutions provider company specializing in crystal growth systems, raised $3 million in seed funding in its first institutional capital round. Crystal growth systems are central to solar ingot manufacturing, as they produce high-quality silicon ingots from which wafers are cut to make solar cells.

Renewable energy operation and maintenance (O&M) company Inox Green Energy signed an agreement with engineering, procurement, and construction solutions provider KEC International to provide O&M services for a 625 MW solar project at Bhadla, Rajasthan. Inox said this order will increase its solar O&M portfolio to over 3 GW. Part of the INOXGFL Group, Inox Green Energy operates in 12 states.

Mumbai-based solar module manufacturer, Waaree Energies, announced it has secured fresh solar module supply orders for both domestic and international markets. The company received an order to supply 210 MW of Domestic Content Requirement-compliant solar modules to an Indian renewable energy developer.

Mumbai-based engineering conglomerate, CG Power and Industrial Solutions, a subsidiary of the Murugappa Group, won a ₹9 billion (~$99.07 million) order from Tallgrass Integrated Logistics Solutions, U.S., to supply power transformers for a large-scale data center project. The contract is the company’s largest-ever single order.

Power Grid Corporation of India’s (POWERGRID) wholly owned subsidiary, POWERGRID Bhadla Sikar Transmission, successfully commissioned an inter-state transmission system in Rajasthan to evacuate 8.1 GW of power from Solar Energy Zones under Phase II – Part E. The transmission system has been fully commissioned with effect from January 14, 2026, and the notification for the commercial operation was received on January 16, 2026.

The global lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery industry is at an inflection point, characterized by rapid demand growth, falling prices, technological advancements, and intensifying global competition, according to a McKinsey & Company report. The demand for Li-ion batteries crossed 1 TWh in 2024 and reached nearly 1.6 TWh in 2025. However, at the moment, the industry is grappling with significant overcapacity, which was around 900 GWh in 2025, especially in Asia.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office determined that the claims of patent infringement by Singapore-based solar solutions provider Maxeon Solar Technologies against renewable energy solutions company Canadian Solar are invalid. Maxeon filed infringement claims in 2024 against Canadian Solar, REC Solar, and Hanwha for violating three patents covering its TOPCon technology.
