KERC allows solar developers to recover GST paid on land lease rentals

Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) invited bids for up to 250 MW/1,000 MWh of four-hour battery energy storage systems across India. The energy storage systems will have an operational period of up to 15 to 18 years. Bids must be submitted by August 17, 2026, for the first stage of the tender. Bids will be opened on the same day.

The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) ruled that the goods and services tax imposed on lease rentals for project land under the reverse charge mechanism constitutes a change-in-law event under the power purchase agreements.

Solar Energy Corporation of India announced the winners of its auction to set up 1,500 MW/12,000 MWh of pumped-storage projects for on-demand usage under the PSP-I program.

NTPC Renewable Energy announced the winner of its auction for an engineering, procurement, and construction package for a 100 MWh vanadium redox flow battery energy storage system at Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat. The tender was floated in February 2026.

The Delhi Development Authority invited bids for the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of a net-metered ground-mounted solar carport project of 2.2 MW at DDA Baansera Park, New Delhi. The last date to submit the bids is February 11, 2026. Bids will be opened the following day.

The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department installed 3.5 MW of rooftop solar capacity across 415 government schools under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India program. Out of the total installations, Eshaan Energy completed 1.05 MW of capacity across 113 government schools in six districts, under the jurisdictions of three electricity distribution companies, within 99 days.

Banaras Locomotive Works, a production unit of Indian Railways, invited bids to install a 1 MW grid-connected rooftop solar power project at its workshop in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The last date to submit bids is August 18, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Punjab Energy Development Agency issued a tender to solarize about 200 grid-connected agricultural pumps across three 11 kV agricultural feeders in Punjab under Component C of the PM-KUSUM program. Bids must be submitted by August 6, 2026. Bids will be opened the next day.

The Korean New and Renewable Energy Center, a division of the Korea Energy Agency, invited bids for 1 GW solar projects in South Korea. The last date to submit bids is August 28, 2026.
